A Day at Kaamulan Park

If you are looking for a place where you can breathe fresh air, hear the sound of leaves rustling in the wind, and just forget about the noise of everyday life — Kaamulan Park in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon is the place to be.

I visited the park on a bright and sunny day, and honestly, I did not expect it to be this beautiful. From the moment I stepped inside, I could already feel the difference. The air was cooler, the surroundings were green, and everything felt calm and peaceful.

The first thing you will notice when you arrive is the wide concrete area that stretches out in front of you. It is a big open ground surrounded by tall trees that cast long shadows across the pavement. Even in the middle of the day when the sun is at its strongest, the shade from the trees keeps the area comfortable. There is something relaxing about walking through a space like this. No buildings blocking the view. No heavy traffic. Just open sky above you and green trees all around. I stood there for a moment and just took it all in. The park also has a small roundabout area near the entrance with a nicely arranged garden. Trimmed shrubs, colorful plants, and a flagpole stand at the center. It gives the park a clean and organized look that makes you feel like you are entering somewhere that is well taken care of.

I am not exaggerating when I say the trees in Kaamulan Park are something else. Tall, proud pine trees rise up toward the sky like they have been standing there for decades — and they probably have. When you look up at them, they seem to go on forever. I took some photos looking straight up through the pine trees and the blue sky above. There is a certain kind of beauty in that angle. The thin branches spread out like a canopy, and between them, you catch glimpses of bright blue sky. One shot even caught the sun peeking through the treetops, creating a beautiful lens flare that made the photo look like something from a nature magazine. Aside from the tall pines, there are also bamboo groves, leafy tropical trees, and flowering trees scattered around the park. One of the most eye-catching is a tree with soft pink flowers blooming at the top. It stood out against the green forest behind it like a little burst of color that nature placed there just for the view. I think it might be a Yakal or possibly a Pink Trumpet Tree, but whatever it is, it was beautiful.

Malaybalay City is known as the highland city of Bukidnon, and Kaamulan Park fits that identity perfectly. The cool mountain air, the tall pine trees, and the wide green spaces all remind you that you are in a part of the Philippines that is a little different from the busy lowland cities. The park is not a commercialized tourist spot. There are no souvenir shops or ticket booths. It is simply a public park where people can come and enjoy nature for free. That in itself is something worth appreciating. Whether you are a local who wants a quiet place to relax, or a traveler passing through Bukidnon looking for something to see, Kaamulan Park is a stop you should not skip. Bring a mat, pack some snacks, sit under the pine trees, and just enjoy the moment. Nature does not always need to be dramatic to be beautiful. Sometimes, a wide open sky, a row of tall pines, and a gentle breeze is more than enough.
