Evening!
Two weeks have passed since my last target practice session. Today was my second try with the new recurved bow. And I am still trying to calibrate the sighting system for the twenty yards distance of my improvised archery range.
Which just had a small upgrade.
Another dense piece of cardboard with...finally...round targets painted on it. They are not the competition standard size, they are just there so that I have something to see and aim at. They are a bit smaller that the competition standard for that distance. And the colors are not in the standard order. It was yellow, yellow, red, red, blue...if I remember correctly.
An X (which still counts as 10 points but is also a tie breaker)
10
9
8
7
6
...
And that's it. No 5 points or lower in 20-yards competitions. You either get more than five, or zero.
Well, as I said, the circles I painted were not the same size but a bit smaller. So, in my practice sessions, I either get more than six, or zero.
I got a lot of zeroes today.
The best two shots for the day.
Crayons on cardboard. Such a wonderful combination.
Another hit from the same series...
And the whole of the series.
And another series.
Having three targets helps you avoid damaging one arrow with another. Especially when shooting with more than three altogether.
Except in this case where I aimed all of my shots at the central target.
And a strange kind of grouping appeared.
I guess I was just tired. Actually, I was not in a good shape in general. I had to make breaks and go back to tilling the yard, sowing some seeds, or irrigating by pulling buckets out of the well.
While my larger muscles might have underperformed a bit because of the fatigue, my fingers needed the rest.
Anyway, it was hard for me to hold the bow relatively still.
Conclusion...
I need more practice.
Peace and Crayons!
Yours,
Manol
