Hello everyone, on my last trip I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful San Juan River in the Las Terrazas Community in Cuba. This place is truly magical and offers a unique experience for those looking to be in touch with nature and tranquility.
Whenever I can, I take a getaway with my friends out of the city and we chose this destination for its natural beauty, its biodiversity and because it is a perfect place to spend time with your closest loved ones. The river waterfalls are an impressive view and offer a relaxing and immersive musical experience. In addition, the singing of the birds and the breeze that is felt in the environment make one feel in a paradise.
One of the most outstanding features of this river is its crystal clear and refreshing water that invites you to swim and enjoy a cool dip on these hot days. The river area is surrounded by tropical forests and green mountains, which offers a natural and relaxing environment that helps to disconnect from the stress of the city.
We can also enjoy various water activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding and rafting. You can also relax in the hammocks that are on the river bank, enjoy a picnic in the nearby rest areas, or set up the tents and stay a few days, like us.
One of the most impressive things about this river is the number of birds that can be seen in the area. We had the opportunity to see species such as the Tocororo, the national bird of Cuba, the Zunzuncito, the smallest hummingbird in the world, and the Royal Carpenter, the largest woodpecker in Cuba, those birds are very elusive and to capture that moment you must have a good camera, in our case we only had phones and we could not capture them in images but we stayed with a unique and unforgettable experience.
The San Juan River in Las Terrazas is a unique place that offers an unforgettable experience for those looking for a connection with nature and tranquility. It is an essential destination and a sample of the beauty and natural diversity that the country has to offer.
