Brown sugar is hard to store long term, Not because it spoils; but because it absorbs moisture. When it becomes moist, for whatever reason; it turns into a brick! Please note that it is still usable, if you grind It back to powder....
You can avoid this moisture by doing this:
This is two pounds of brown sugar, in a Canning jar. I then use my vacuum sealer to remove all air, which also removes all moisture; from the jar, and seals it to keep it out! 👍🤠💗
This sugar will stay soft for decades:
About a cup of brown sugar in a pot of cooked beans, with a quarter cup of sorghum and tomato paste; makes a decent pot of baked beans! 🍲🍲🍲
I like to use a couple of pounds of 15 bean mix to make this recipe. My Mother called this Calico Beans, and they are stunning! Each bean has a special flavor, that compliments the other flavors; and the result is a treat for your taste buds! 👅😋😝
We put up 8 pounds of brown sugar which will last for many years making baked beans. With the vacuum storage, they will remain 'spoonable' for the entire storage duration!⏳⏱️⏰⌛
