Hello, I'm Jesus Martinez, a young man from Cantaura, a town in Venezuela. I study Public Accounting at the University of Oriente. I started programming thanks to the help of . He recommended that I apply to the Hive Development Fund: Pilot Program.
Why do I want to participate?
As a young Venezuelan, this opportunity represents a life-changing chance to dedicate myself to full-time blockchain development. Friend'S is my proposal to create a social network that returns real value to Hive users, instead of simply extracting value like traditional networks.
Dear Hive community,
Let me explain in detail what Friend'S is and why I believe it can be valuable to our ecosystem.
Friend'S is a decentralized social network built on the Hive blockchain with an innovative approach: transforming everyday social interactions into opportunities to generate real value. Unlike traditional social networks where users produce content and engagement that platforms then monetize through advertising, Friend'S returns that value directly to those who create it.
The core idea revolves around a streak system. When two users maintain an active and consistent conversation for several consecutive days, both receive rewards in HIVE tokens. The system starts modestly: after three days of continuous interaction, each participant receives 0.5 HIVE. But as the streak extends—to 10 days, 20 days, 30 days, and beyond—the rewards increase progressively.
What makes Friend'S different is its focus on quality over quantity. It's not simply about sending messages to maintain a streak. The system incorporates a quality point mechanism that values more substantial conversations, thoughtful responses, and genuine dialogues. Users who participate in more meaningful exchanges receive multipliers on their rewards, thus incentivizing higher-value communication instead of superficial interactions.
The platform is designed to be accessible. Users connect using Hive Keychain, without the need for complicated registrations or separate password management. All interactions and rewards are transparently recorded on the blockchain, allowing anyone to verify the legitimacy of the system. From a technical perspective, Friend'S integrates several social functionalities into a single platform. It includes a messaging system for one-on-one conversations, a posting module similar to what other popular social networks offer, and community spaces where groups of users can interact around shared interests. Each of these functionalities is linked to the reward system.
The economic model is designed to be sustainable. The majority of the distributed HIVE tokens go directly to active users, while a smaller portion is allocated to the ongoing development and maintenance of the platform. This creates a virtuous cycle where community growth drives the development of new features, which in turn attract more users.
For Hive, Friend'S represents an opportunity to demonstrate practical use cases of the blockchain beyond traditional blog posts. It attracts users who may not be interested in writing long articles but who do value staying connected with friends and family. Every conversation on Friend'S is a transaction on the blockchain, increasing the network's activity and visibility.
For users, especially in regions like mine where access to economic opportunities may be limited, Friend'S offers a tangible way for the time they already spend on social media to generate some return. But beyond the economic aspect, the system is designed to foster more authentic connections and more meaningful conversations, counteracting the trend toward superficial interactions that often dominate social media.
Currently, I have developed the basic interface and the authentication system. With the support of the Development Fund, I could dedicate myself full-time to implementing the core chat functionalities, fully integrating the reward system with the blockchain, and launching a beta version that would allow early users to begin experimenting with the platform.
Friend's doesn't aim to replace existing social networks, but rather to offer an alternative that better aligns the incentives between the platform and its users. It's an experiment in how we can build digital spaces where the value generated by human interactions is distributed more fairly and transparently. I not only plan to pursue this project, but I also want to develop others, but I think that will be for another time. Thanks to for creating this interesting opportunity for new developers.
I hope you will consider supporting this initiative, which I firmly believe can contribute to the growth and diversification of our Hive ecosystem.
