I had already shared a couple of them in separate posts, but there were enough additional changes that this felt worth wrapping up properly.
Some of these updates are based on community feedback and are the kind you notice immediately, others are more in the category of "things feel better and less annoying now", which is usually a good sign.
Previously announced, finally live
The new image proxy service I teased here is now available on the main PeakD site.
Expect some hiccups if you test it, this is a fairly complex project and it will surely require some tuning in the coming days.
If you want to give it a try, you can configure it in your Settings page.
To dig deeper:
- You can read more about the project here
- Check out the code in our GitLab
- And even keep an eye on the server status directly on proxy.peakd.com
The new Analytics page showcased in my previous post is also live. Give it a try and share some feedback.
This is probably the biggest visible update of the month.
The big change here is that analytics on PeakD now feel much more like a proper account dashboard instead of a couple of disconnected views.
You can now compare PeakD page traffic with on-chain account activity from the same timeframe, which means the page is much more useful in practice. Rewards, HP movement, wallet trends, followers, voting activity, governance actions, top pages, reading time, unique visitors... it is all much closer to one unified cockpit now.
That was the real goal.
Blog and post browsing got a lot more practical
The Blog and Posts pages now have a more polished filter sidebar, and account post browsing finally supports date range filtering. This was requested multiple times in the past and it is finally available.
That may sound like a small thing, but if you ever tried finding an older post without remembering the exact title or tag, you already know this becomes useful very quickly.
This means it is now much easier to:
- narrow down posts by date
- browse account posts with a cleaner filter layout
- move through older content without doing the usual endless scroll archaeology
A new loading indicator
This is actually a pretty small change code-wise. But it will probably have a medium/large impact on your daily experience because it's so widely used.
We now have a new loading indicator for when the website is crunching data to show you.
A few smaller updates that still matter
A bunch of smaller things landed too, and several of them are worth mentioning:
- notifications support for witness vote / witness proxy governance notifications
- support for 3Speak embedded audio in posts and snaps (kudos to
for his help on this)
- new setting to hide posts from low reputation authors if you want a cleaner feed/topics experience
- the wallet now integrates bad actor detection based on the Watchmen list: https://github.com/openhive-network/watchmen
None of these are headline features on their own, but together they are the sort of improvements that make the product feel more maintained and less brittle.
What's next
Well, the good news is that there are more new features in the works. Those were not ready yet to be included in this latest release, but expect to see some of them as soon as next week.
