HiveFour takes a game everybody already understands and gives it two clear ways to play: quick matches against the CPU when you just want a game, and online duels with HIVE on the line when you want a little pressure. You can also create games with HIVE at stake where the winner takes all.
A lot of blockchain games ask players to learn too much before the fun starts. Wallet steps, token systems, long explanations, too many moving parts. HiveFour goes the other direction.
It starts with a familiar board game. If you know Connect Four, you already know enough to play. If you just want to kill a few minutes, you can jump into CPU matches right away. If you want a real opponent, you can sign in with your Hive account, throw out a challenge, and play for stakes.
What you can do
HiveFour launches with a few simple modes:
- Play free games against the CPU on easy, medium, or hard
- Play pass-and-play with a friend on the same device
- Log in with your Hive account for online play
- Challenge other players and stake HIVE in head-to-head matches
- Track your results and build a record over time
Built for Hive, but still a game first
The Hive part is there because it adds something useful. Your account is your identity. Challenges can be tied to people you already know. And upping the stakes with Hive tokens adds a new level of competitiveness.
But the main point is still the game.
HiveFour is supposed to feel immediate. A little competitive. A little nostalgic. The kind of thing you can open for one match and then realise you’ve been playing for half an hour.
Come play
If that sounds like your kind of thing, it’s live now:
Start with a CPU game if you want to get a feel for it. Then sign in, challenge somebody, and see how calm you stay when the board gets crowded.
Connect Four is simple right up until it isn’t. This of course is an early release and there might be bugs. While a lot of work has been done to ensure bugs were caught via testing and other means, if you encounter any issues you can reach out here on Discord: https://discord.gg/8WRFebdYfs with feedback and any problems you encounter. The game will evolve over time, but I'm watching for anything that goes wrong to intervene and issue refunds, etc.
