Let's be real for a second. The vibes are not great.
You've got a full scale war in the Middle East. The US and Israel launched joint strikes on Iran on February 28, targeting leadership and military infrastructure. Iran's supreme leader was killed. Iran retaliated by launching hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel and US bases across the Gulf. The Strait of Hormuz is effectively shut down, choking off roughly 20% of global oil supplies. Oil has surged from around $70 to over $110 per barrel.
Not good.
Economists are comparing this to the worst supply disruption since the 1970s. Airlines are rerouting flights around the entire Middle East. Countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh have moved to four day work weeks just to manage energy costs. Inflation projections are climbing everywhere.
And crypto? When the strikes first hit, $364 million in crypto positions were liquidated in 24 hours. Bitcoin dropped from near $74,000 to the $65,000 range. It's bounced back into the low $70,000s since, but the mood is fragile. Every escalation sends another wave of selling through the market.
Hive is not immune to any of this.
So Where Does That Leave Us?
It's easy to check out. Scroll past the crypto apps. Stop posting. Wait for better days. Nobody would blame you.
But here's the thing about bear markets and global chaos. They strip away everything that isn't real. When price isn't carrying the mood, you find out what people actually care about. That's useful information.
Hive is still here. Three second transactions, no fees, on-chain governance, decentralised content that nobody can take down. The fundamentals haven't changed. But fundamentals don't get people out of bed in the morning when the world is on fire and their portfolio is bleeding.
So I want to ask a genuine question. Not rhetorical. Not leading. I actually want to know.
What would get you excited about Hive right now?
What I'm Not Asking
I'm not asking for hopium. I don't want to hear that HIVE is going to $10 if we just believe hard enough. That's not a plan, that's a prayer.
I'm also not asking what's wrong with Hive. We've all got lists. DHF spending, onboarding friction, engagement dropping, the same complaints on rotation. Valid stuff. But I've written those posts already and so has everyone else.
I want to know what would make you actually want to be here. Not out of loyalty. Not out of habit. Out of genuine excitement.
Some Prompts If You're Stuck
Maybe it's a specific app or tool you wish existed on Hive. Maybe it's a change to how rewards work. Maybe it's seeing Hive show up somewhere unexpected. Maybe it's a game that's actually fun to play and not just a token farm. Maybe it's better mobile experience. Maybe it's something nobody has thought of yet.
Could be small. Could be massive. Doesn't matter.
There's actually an argument that times like this are when crypto should shine. Decentralised systems that don't depend on any single government or central bank. Censorship resistant platforms when information is being controlled. Financial rails that work when traditional systems are under stress. That's the whole pitch. So what would it take for Hive to actually deliver on that pitch in a way that matters to you?
Why I'm Asking
I build stuff on Hive. A lot of stuff. Games, tools, bots, whatever (you've probably noticed). I'm going to keep building regardless because that's what I do. But I'd rather build things people actually want than things I think are cool in isolation.
The world is genuinely scary right now. Oil prices are restructuring economies in real time. There's a war with no clear end point. Markets are in survival mode. The people still here on Hive during all of this are the ones who actually care about what this chain can be.
So tell me. Drop a comment. Be specific if you can. Be vague if that's all you've got. Just be honest.
What would make Hive feel exciting to you right now? Not in some hypothetical bull run future. Right now. In the middle of all this.
I'm listening.
