I built a game that uses your actual Hive chain data as core gameplay mechanics. Most games on Hive use blockchain for tokens or ownership. HIVEMIND uses it for the game itself. Play now at arena.hive.uno.
How It Works
Weapons from Your Posts
Your weapons come from posts you've written on Hive. Once a post becomes one of your 20 most recent, it stays in your arsenal forever unless you scrap it. Each post becomes a weapon with unique stats based on its category: shitpost, hot take, quality post, thread, or ratio.
Each weapon has durability (starts at 100%). During a match, durability degrades by 5%. You recover 2.5% per kill (capped at 4% per match). Damage output scales directly with current durability, so a degraded weapon does less damage.
When durability hits 50%, it cannot degrade further. You can repair weapons for 3 scraps, which restores current durability to its maximum, but each repair slightly lowers the cap (by 0.5% per repair, bottoming out at 95%). This creates a meaningful tradeoff: keep a favorite post in rotation and repair it repeatedly, accepting diminishing returns, or cycle in fresh posts as weapons wear out.
Quality posts take longer to produce, so maintaining a few good ones often beats grinding dozens of mediocre ones.
Weapon Types and Stats
| Type | Damage | Cooldown | Special |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shitpost | 8 | 0.5s | ā |
| Hot Take | 25 | 2s | Marks you as a target for 5 seconds |
| Thread | 12 AoE | 3s | Area damage scales with comment engagement |
| Quality Post | 30 | 4s | Restores 15 HP when you hit an enemy |
| Ratio | 50 | 6s | Costs 20% of your current HP to fire |
Stat Modifiers from Your Hive Post
Your post's actual Hive data affects weapon stats in match:
- Payout in HBD: Higher payout increases damage by up to 5% (1 HBD = 0.5% bonus)
- Word count: Posts under 500 words fire slower; posts over 500 fire faster (up to 20% at 3000+ words), rewarding depth
- Comment engagement: Threads gain area damage radius (150 base + 2 pixels per comment, capped at 300)
- Post age over 30 days: Projectiles travel 5% faster, rewarding you for maintaining diverse arsenals
Rock-Paper-Scissors Combat
Projectiles collide mid-air with RPS resolution*:
| Your Weapon | Beats |
|---|---|
| Shitpost | Hot Take |
| Hot Take | Quality Post |
| Quality Post | Thread |
| Thread | Ratio |
| Ratio | Shitpost |
A losing projectile is destroyed on impact. If both types tie, both are destroyed. This adds tactical depth: choose your active weapon based on what others are likely to fire.
* I'm still not 100% sure this works perfectly.
Scraps and Maintenance
Unwanted posts convert to scraps:
- Shitpost: 1 scrap
- Hot Take: 1 scrap
- Thread: 2 scraps
- Quality Post: 3 scraps
- Ratio: 2 scraps
Use scraps to repair favorite weapons, or save them to keep your arsenal fresh.
The Match
Matches run with 2 to 20 human players. Below 20, AI bots fill the lobby to keep things interesting. Bots are happy to fight each other while you fight them. Rewards go to the highest-ranked human player, even if a bot wins.
Arena and Survival
Fights happen in a hexagonal arena. You spawn at the rim and move inward. A shrinking storm deals 5 HP per second and contracts every 60 seconds, forcing players into tighter battles.
Players start with 100 HP. Weapon damage and storm damage reduce this. Last player standing wins.
The Hive Connection
During the 60-second lobby countdown, the game creates a match post on Hive. You sign two things via Hive Keychain:
- A vote on the match post (minimum weight depends on your voting power: aim for 0.2 HIVE minimum or 25%, whichever is lower)
- A comment on that post (your match entry)
Both broadcast to Hive immediately. No escrow, no delays. When the match ends, the game account upvotes the winner's comment at 1% weight. This gives their comment rshares, so when the match post pays out in 7 days, commentrewarder distributes its 50% beneficiary reward to the winner's comment, which has been upvoted.
Why This Matters
The voting mechanism ties game outcomes directly to Hive's economics. Your weapon quality affects match performance, which affects your ranking and visibility, which affects voting rewards. A great post that wins matches earns you real HIVE payout.
Gameplay Tips
Maintain diversity: Your 20 most recent posts are your arsenal. Write different post types and let older ones cycle out naturally, keeping your weapon pool fresh.
Understand the RPS: Know what beats what. If you see quality posts dominating, switch to threads. If threads are everywhere, ratio becomes powerful.
Special abilities matter: Hot takes mark you (enemies see you as a target), quality posts heal you (good for sustained combat), ratios hit hard but cost health (high-risk, high-reward).
Threads are engagement weapons: Comment engagement directly scales thread damage and area. A well-discussed thread can be devastating.
Repair strategically: Keep your top weapons in rotation and repair them as needed. Heavily-repaired weapons cap out at 95%, so eventually cycle in fresh posts.
Platform Note
HIVEMIND works best in desktop browsers. It may work in Safari on iOS, but does not work reliably with Hive Keychain browser on mobile. Development focus is desktop for now.
