Hey Guys and Gals,

Luck and superstition plays a big role in some peoples lives, but no more so than for William McKinley. McKinley was the 25th President of the United States. Starting 1897, until his assassination in 1901.

Little-known fact about McKinley, is that he liked to wear a red carnation for good luck on his lapel. On occasion, he even gave these this lucky lapel carnation to someone as a memento for them to remember him with. Nice guy for sure.

Until that the faithful day in 1901, when he handed a 12-year-old girl, Myrtle his prized good luck carnation and sad “I must give this flower to another little flower.” A few short minutes later he was shot and killed by a man in the crowd. Now thats some bad luck.

Was this fate or was it a man without his lucky carnation shield? That is up for you to decide. :D
