Ah, that was two years ago. My habit has been to vote with varying power until my voting mana got down to about 80% so it could recover a bit overnight. The rewards I give gets lower as that percentage drops. That seems a reasonable way to limit how much you can vote. If I understand correctly the latter would not happen after this change. What happens if my mana gets really low?

The analogy I saw for mana is that is a bucket being filled at a constant rate (until full) and each vote is like scooping some out.

I just want my votes to have maximum impact for others, so I wonder if I need to change strategy. The impact seems more on smaller accounts who may not be able to vote above the dust threshold if they vote several times, so more posts may get something. In general the rewards should not change much as everyone will have the same ability to give consistent vote power.

Every time I think I understand these things I seem to miss something :)
