A few days ago, we ran a 48 hour contest on Threads, with an offer of Leo Premium as a prize. Please see the details of the contest there so you’ll understand the context of this analysis.
How the Contest Went
I definitely noticed a substantial increase in quality threads, some which were almost akin to medium-length posts! This appears to be an excellent way to increase quality engagement.
There was some quantitative increase in activity, but not a great deal. After about 22 hours, I noticed that the #freecompliments tag was still hovering around #2/#3, so rather than the allotted 36 hours of staying at #1, I decreased the requirement to 24 hours. Around 8-9 hours later, it was still #2, and then later on I saw it was #1.
I will attribute this partially to the fact that it was Christmas Day and that activity all over Hive would have decreased. Only us nuts stick around every single day lol!
That said, there was a definite increase in activity over time, so while a 48 hour contest might not have yielded optimal results, extending the time of the contest would likely yield a greater quantity of quality engagement.
This is the basic thought that I will be using to justify increasing the length of the contest and increasing the stake of the rewards. More details about the contest itself will be revealed in the very near future.
I will also mention that has generously offered to sponsor a Leo premium membership every month of the contest (although I want to discuss further details with him before I set out the full details of the contest to the public), and I’ll also be discussing details with some of the InLeo team.
Winners?
Since we didn’t meet the original criteria (36 hours of the tag at #1) nor the modified criteria (24 hours of the tag at #1), there was no winner this time. However, I think we’ve established some users who may be contenders for winning the contest when it’s fully formed in the future!
Conclusion
This was a useful experiment to figure out how to set p our future monthly contest on Threads. More details will be forthcoming as we build upon how to structure this contest in the future. Expect bigger prizes!
I would love to hear any and all opinions about this contest and upcoming projects from everyone who is currently a member of FreeCompliments, since you’re all inaugural members!
