Hey everyone guess what!! Self-driving trucks is coming to the United States.🤷♀️
They have been testing them out on the roads, the self driving trucks has 25 laser radar and camera sensors. Late this year, Aurora plans to start hauling freight on interstate 45 between the Dallas and Houston Texas areas with atleast 20 non driver trucks.
Within three to four years, Aurora and its competitors expect to put thousands self driving trucks on America freeway. The goal is for the trucks which can run nearly around the clock without any breaks, to speed the flow of goods accelerating delivery times and perhaps lowering costs, They will also travel short distance on secondary roads. The company also says the trucks will save on fuels, because they don't have to stop and will drive at more consistent speed. Also if the truck run into any maintenance issue while on the road/freeway it will automatically pull to the side of the road and remotely call for assistance. As they was testing the self driving truck on a three lane the sensor spotted a trash can blocking one lane and a tire in another lane and in less than a second, the signal came on and the truck moved into the unobstructed lane and rumble past the obstacles. The truck laser and radar sensor can see farther than human eyes can.
The truck sensor can detect people walking on a highway at night far beyond the distance of headlights. The self driving trucks will carry loads between terminals for Fedex, Uber Freight, Werner and other partners.
Do y'all think this is a good idea? Will it cut down on some of the accidents these trucks been having?
Some says it will be better than human driving the trucks because you don't have to worry about them falling asleep behind the wheel or the truck drivers getting distracted or impaired by drugs or alcohol.
