I recently stumbled upon a new blockchain game that's about to launch called Synergy of Serra. We've mentioned in the past that with the Hive Gaming community, even though we curate a lot of diverse gaming content, from reviews, to streaming and gameplay footage, that we would like to focus on blockchain gaming more. The future of blockchain gaming and the advantages they give both players and investors compared to the current centralized ways are looking very bright. In the past we built a community around one of these games and even though it existed on another blockchain the value the players saw of Hive when they were introduced to it was worth the time and resources spent and many of those players are still around and active on Hive today even though the game cooled off a bit on the hype.
When I read up on Synergy of Serra I quickly took contact with the people in charge and they loved the idea of starting their own community here on Hive. We didn't get to talk much as their pre-sale is about to launch today but OCD would also love to incubate their community and get more players onto Hive so that aside from the advantages SoS may give them, such as ownership of cards (NFT's) and play to earn, they'd also be introduced to the world of Hive and all the benefits we offer to users. I am looking forward to see how that develops but for now let's look at the game as their pre-sale is about to start and for those of you who may be interested to take part in it you'd want to be able to do so as early as possible - more on that soon.
Synergy of Serra presents a new game genre for their TCG, quoting from their website:
Experience a glorious mash-up of traditional, strategic Trading Card Game battles and in-game Deckbuilding Game mechanics. Combining thrilling matches with fair strategic gameplay. Every battle will be unique. Simple to learn but hard to master.
They make it clear that the game will focus on skill, mechanics will be simple but the card game will be deep meaning it is easy to get in to but hard to master. Another thing they point out on the website about the gameplay is:
The cards you bring to the table are poured into the middle, both players can use them to build their decks. On Serra, the more skilled combatant will win, not the richest
The company behind Synergy of Serra is called Calystral and this will be their first big offering to players all over the world with their mission statement being:
to create fair and trustless, disruptive games empowering gamers to challenge the status quo.
More info about the game can be found on their website Synergy of Serra although there's not a lot of info about the gameplay as of yet as things can still change.
Now the reason I'm rushing with this post a bit is due to the pre-sale that starts in less than an hour:
Note that I'm not advocating to throw your money at it, similar to most crypto projects never use money you can't afford to lose. This project may get you returns on your investment or it may not. For those of you who are interested in these games as players and maybe collectors as the art is amazing as well and each card you own is yours truly, you might be interested in getting in as early as possible due to the way the presale works:
The presale will sell crates that will include cards and other various items starting with $2 for the Transcendent set and $1 for the Base set crate. Once 20k of each have been sold the next tier will become 50% more expensive up to $5,50 with the amount of crates growing in supply by 10k for each tier until tier 5 and 6 where they start decreasing by 10k. To do the math quickly the Base set will have a total of 400k crates where the average price will probably be around $3 and for the Transcendent set around $6 (I'm not great at math so check the website to see for yourself). I also read that the crates will be tradable as soon as you buy them but to open them you'll have to wait until the crate opening event which doesn't have an ETA yet.
From a player's point of view I can't comment a lot on it yet until I figure out how exactly the gameplay works, hopefully I'll get an alpha or beta key to be able to say more on that then. But from a collector's perspective who was infatuated with other TCG's mainly cause of the art I can say this game does not hold back on that.
Check some artwork examples here
Anyway, the presale is about to start and I'm planning on getting some crates for myself so ending the post here but would like to know what you think about it so far! Leave a comment with your thoughts and if you had heard of Synergy of Serra before!
I'm looking forward to see how it evolves and if it manages to unchain more players from their centralized hold to introduce them to the world of blockchain gaming! Until next post when I'll spend some more time doing research on the game and have more news to share about it!
