That screenshot is the video I was watching with him (my idea), looking at hilarious and atrocious game boxarts...until my friend stopped me after Ninja Golf for Atari 7800's box showed up, and he straight up told me to get that thing to play it.
And...yeah, we actually played it even before watching the video shown of the game itself in the one we were watching, since we paused it when the box was shown just to go and get it.
It is one of those things that you can't really make up.
So after grabbing an emulator (ProSystem) and launching the game, we were met with this past the title screen:
It was really funny to see how the game basically is exactly what it says on the tin: You actually have to look at the minimap to see where you're swinging the ball, and then chase for the ball while enemies start running against you from both sides. You can sort of jump, attack high and attack low, but sooner or later you would get thrown enemies from both sides and stuff like frogs, moles and snakes that you need to kick (depending of where you ware). You can sometimes find shurikens to attack from far away, but if you don't have, then you'll have to give them a good kick face-to-face.
Oh, and if you were wondering what you do when getting on the green in here?
Maybe a minigame to putt the ball into the hole?
Pfft.
You'll see, you don't even NEED to do that.
Yep, instead of having to do something like that, you gotta throw shurikens to a dragon until its gone. Don't worry, you DO have infinite shurikens here, but health and lives? Those are what you have to take care of; specially when your low health from the previous stage carries over to the next one. Oh, sorry, next hole. We ARE playing golf after all.
We both played at least once: My friend played one hole, then I played the second and third hole...and barely survived the second one, but right near the end of the third one...I bited the dust.
And apparently that brought dishonor to my familiy that will only be repaired if I play again.
But it could have ended up far worse. My friend put the game in "Kamikaze" (highest difficulty) and then some green ninjas started showing up too (which can be a bit hard to see because they are almost the exact color as the grass you're running on). He made it to the second hole...but a random snake biting you definitely sounds like a way you can die out of nowhere.
...well, I don't know what else I can really say about it. It was funny to do this, but overall the most silly part is that we did it in the first place. Ninja Golf is, without a doubt, one of the games of all time.

Así que después de agarrar un emulador (ProSystem) y lanzar el juego, nos encontramos con esto más allá de la pantalla de título:
Fue muy divertido ver cómo el juego es básicamente lo que dice en la lata: en realidad tienes que mirar el minimapa para ver hacia dónde mueves la pelota, y luego perseguirla mientras los enemigos empiezan a correr contra ti desde ambos lados. Puedes saltar, atacar por arriba y atacar por abajo, pero tarde o temprano te llegarán enemigos lanzados desde ambos lados y cosas como ranas, topos y serpientes que tienes que patear (dependiendo de dónde te encuentres). A veces puedes encontrar shurikens para atacar desde lejos, pero si no tienes, tendrás que darles una buena patada cara a cara.

Sí, en lugar de tener que hacer algo así, tienes que lanzar shurikens a un dragón hasta que desaparezca. No te preocupes, aquí tienes shurikens infinitos, pero la salud y las vidas... Eso es lo que tienes que cuidar; especialmente cuando tu baja salud de la fase anterior se traslada a la siguiente. Estamos jugando al golf después de todo.
Ambos jugamos al menos una vez: Mi amigo jugó un hoyo, luego yo jugué el segundo y el tercero... y apenas sobreviví al segundo, pero justo al final del tercero... mordí el polvo.
Y aparentemente eso trajo deshonra a mi familia que solo será reparada si vuelvo a jugar.
Pero podría haber acabado mucho peor. Mi amigo puso el juego en "Kamikaze" (dificultad más alta) y entonces empezaron a aparecer unos ninjas verdes también (que pueden ser un poco difíciles de ver porque son casi del color exacto de la hierba sobre la que corres). Llegó al segundo hoyo... pero una serpiente al azar mordiéndote definitivamente suena como una forma de morir de la nada.
...bueno, no sé qué más puedo decir al respecto. Fue divertido hacer esto, pero en general la parte más tonta es que lo hicimos en primer lugar. Ninja Golf es, sin duda, uno de los juegos de todos los tiempos.
