Or: Why I dropped this game from my Backlog...
7,62 High Calibre is a real-time tactical action game. You control a special force agent(s) in an attempt to win the war. It's one of the games I was interested in, but decided they're not for me after playing it for 1 hour.
7,62 High Calibre
This game have been on my backlog for a long time since I got it from one of Indie Bundles. I liked the idea of it, though from the images, I thought it was a PS2-like Third Person Shooter. Something about 7,62 High Calibre felt interesting to me.
So when I finally reached this game in my Backlog, I got surprised it was a Real Time Strategy. The story is interesting: In the first mission, you're an agent sent to a resort town in some country to assassinate someone. The game plays like The Sims but it involves battles.
Since I didn't play 7,62 High Calibre for long, I don't have much to say about it. The setting is realistic. The character design has a mix of realistically stylized art, and it suits this kind of game. The 3rd world country I was thrown in felt alive & it gave me enough time to experiment with the controls.
The way you talk to NPC reminds me of old school Fallout games. There are many choices to change the course of the story, and every decision changes the whole game.
There's a big attention to detail: The characters has stats for everything including hunger and sleep. Every equipment has a 3D model that appears on the character if equipped.
The micromanagement in this game is so extensive, it's overwhelming for a player like me. I can see why it's loved by many reviewers on Steam. If I played this game 8 years earlier, it might've become something I really enjoy but for now I don't have time for it.
Why I'm Dropping This Game?
I stopped playing before finishing the first mission and the reason is: The game is slow! I need some time to understand the gameplay, but that was never a problem for me. I felt that the time I spend on this game is better spend on playing other games.
Usually, I play slow games to completion because I'm already invested because I like the series, I like some characters or because I know I'll find something great in the end. I'm dropping 7,62 High Calibre because I don't have any of that for this game.
I didn't mention the other version of this game called: 7,62 Hard Life. It comes with this one, and it says it's a fan-made enhanced version with new collection of missions? but I haven't tried it yet. If you know about Hard Life version, can you tell me how different it is from High Calibre?
What do you think?
