Finally here, at Chichen Itza. To gather information Aveline blended with many groups of people and received only positive feedbacks from about the place. Moreover, the locals told not to speak to I’ll about the place.
Went ahead to find more meaningful prizes than praises about the place.
Found a sweet synch spot. The pyramid was built by Mayans!
The thief strikes again. Although, here, nobody realises that they are being robbed. Not even a sign of displeased nor suspection.
Aveline saw a chance. To make her weapon with the materials nearby when she saw the blacksmith table laying unattended.
Then she headed out to collect belts from the guards.
The knives, she got one from a totally inconspicuous person. The other she got from a chest.
Wooden planks from the construction site by the pyramid. No one was allowed to enter the property except the ones responsible to build it.
All the materials were gathered. The only thing remained was: getting the gunsmith place empty. She carried a barrel of gunpowder and placed it at the end of stables where not many guards were present. I didn’t know that there was already guns present by the haystack and knocked out 2 guards. Aveline shot the barrels and the explosion was well heard. Guards rushed in the place while she got out.
The place was off guard and she worked on the contraption. She made her pair of hidden blades, wasn’t the finest work but better than nothing.
Aveline spots de Ferrer in the location. She sees him going inside the private houses with a man. She decides to follow them with subtlety.
De Ferrer tells that the company man was unhappy with the ordeal. The other man suggested to increase the amount of labours. De Ferrer was furious. He said that the local supply of labours was exhausted, they brought in slaves from places Cuba and New Orleans that too in total secrecy, a rather expensive and time consuming process. Ferrer asks the man to be patient, Väsquez would soon take the place of Baptiste, he will do that which Baptiste failed.
Aveline further tailed the overseer and Ferrer and saw that an African man was held as captive. Ferrer asked them to teach him a lesson about his actions. Ferrer leaves the scene and the overseer stays. He tells the man that him leaving the place with secrets and breaching his contracts was only a wishful thinking.
The guards were killed along but the overseer charges with his whip. A new weapon for Aveline to use. The overseer was killed. More guards poured in with weapons. Aveline picked up the whip and pulled in the guards removing their weapons from their hands.
Aveline approached the man and asked to help him get back to New Orleans. The man shrugged and said that he didn’t want to go there instead he would return back to Africa.
The man recognised the locket that Aveline was wearing. He said that she saw it on another woman named Jeanne. She was one of the first to get into that place. Aveline remembered the name and cried that it was her mother’s name. He said that her mother used to live in the south edge of the camp. It was a private house. The man then says that this time he wouldn’t let the guard catch him and leaves.
CitizenE appears nearby and says that we had been lied to. Only after we would kill the person would we see what actually happened, a weird thing to do to find out about people but I went along.
The conversation between Ferrer and the overseer was shown, their complete conversation. The overseer reported that dispatched guards for another escapee, the third of the week. He held the one for Ferrer as he knew that Ferrer like to deal with them personally. He wanted to hang this one, his mood suggested so. He wanted the overseer to work on the ale. The overseer suggests that he should work no more on poison with respect his history with them. Ferrer agreed and said that the Mackandal ordeal was a bad one. The overseer says that archaeology was a fine gentle work, one that wouldn’t impair the worker’s abilities. He suggested another festival, a suckling pig. To tell the workers that they were closer than ever to the land. The later part of the conversation was already heard by them.
Aveline then heads toward the cenote, to find more about the place. He reaches the canyon and swan dives in.
She navigated the underwater tunnels and later through the caves.
Finally found the ancient puzzle. Most probably made by the first civilisation.
She worked with the puzzle and completed it within 2 minutes.
The puzzle was complete and the mechanism started. A disc was placed atop the stand.
She reached for the disc and an explosion shook the place. The wall behind her was wrecked and there was de Ferrer with his guards. He marvelled at the scene. He said that Aveline was a potential friend of hers, she removed all those who Ferrer wanted to get rid off and also found the place of the disc for him. He asked the guards to charge at her. Aveline took all of them out as the guards swarmed her.
In the end, even Ferrer was killed with the crafted hidden blades and thrown off the place. The place started to rumble.
Made her way out and steered clear of the rolling boulders. But to her surprise she met a person who she never thought would be at such a place. Her mother. Her mother told her that she had left her in the protection of Madeline, her step-mother so why was she there. Aveline told that she was there of her own free will. In Jeanne’s defence, she said that they would’ve killed her for which she had to leave Aveline.
Her mother was scared of Aveline, she thought that Agaté had sent her to finish her off as well. Aveline on the other hand was pleased to see her mother. She told Aveline that the disc can never fall into Agaté’s hands, all the work she did till now would’ve been for naught. She comforted her and asked her what had happened. Jeanne started to tell but stopped. She said that there was no time for it and leaves Aveline. Aveline was left in that cave.
