Hello guys, hope all of you are doing good.
This episode is the product of a massive grind, took me 4 whole hours and a bit more time filled with exploration and sorrowful scenes.
This takes place at an abandoned hospital/clock tower, a tower of sort with changeable(only once) stairs. This stair, initially, let’s you on from the first floor. After progression, we get to a button which changes and uplifts it by a level, giving us access to the main boss of the place.
This is also where the infamous Lady Maria resides, with a curse that would make her quest a never ending nightmare, her indulgence in guarding made into a permanent duty.
All this time, the search at the floors; filled with sad back stories and conditions of the “patients”.
The first level was filled with people who had bloated heads, their heads were covered by a big black ball, with smaller bubble like objects covering the surface.
The second level had patients, their head was hosting a tumour and it grew to such an extent that they would burst out should they be given a chance to grow more.
This level’s patients are similar to the one I’m playing with, the guy and these patients are seeing a dream. The difference: the player or me, is winning and defeating the nightmares whereas the others were succumbed by the nightmare.
The third floor.
The patients were on their knees, crawling about. This showed how every level you go up, the amount of madness increases. Thankfully, no hidden bosses were found. The patients now leapt to latch onto me. Some patients were somewhat sane, I could talk with them. They would give random feedback, someone’s eye was missing by the pool area, someone was trying to find something in the sand etc.
The level to pull up the stairs rests at the 4th or 5th laboratory floor.
After this, a step towards the real boss is taken, Lady Maria. This lady is the controller of this Astral Clocktower, care taker of the patients; one of the first student of Gehrman, the first Hunter. Learn more about Lady Maria from this link.
Now, I face the entrance boss: The Living Failures. Some say that this boss is pretty easy, after beating Ludwig and Rom, I thought so too.
Below is the description of the events leading up to the fight and the fight itself. At the bottom of the post is the gameplay.
The Boss Fight
How wrong I was🥲. Had to try atleast 6 times before finally getting this dub.
The run started from the lamp, as usual. The guy in the right is a new addition, he told me of this eternal guard of the Clocktower. To beat her and set free, the patients and their nightmares.
After all the level’s stairs were unlocked, there is a lift mechanism. Triggering it would make the lift go from up to down.
This was an intriguing lady. She was first strapped onto a chair and merely wanted a mushy brain fluid. She asked nicely, so, I obliged. Had 3 and each time, she would give me a type of blood that was alien to me.
Now, she was here by the gate. Wanting the same mushy and soft brain fluids.
The second left was guarded by 3 men in wheelchairs. They seemed to be like the old veteran war heroes, now suffering from dementia and insanity.
They gave good loot tho so it’s all sunny here!
The gate was already present in this level, had triggered the elevator shaft from the last time I had tried to face against this boss.
Even the inside of the lift was beautiful albeit, this game is at a 30 fps cap; it shouldn’t look this good.
The white stuff that you get to see here.. is the chemical explosion due to a trap I had activated intentionally. I ran over it, and went well past it, towards the stairs.
Right at the mouth of the spiral stairs was this old dude with a Gatling gun. These old folk were not push overs, no sir.
Then, the unshakable hurdle. This huge leap, from the upper level of stair to the stair with the doorway. The place of the boss fight.
The fight begins with a single dude charging towards you. Pretty easy, until 5 more wakes up and starts to hurl energy balls and summons asteroids from the friggin space!!
Weapon
This time, I went with the big Hunter Axe. The charge attack delivered a good stagger, and could send the guys back, cancelling their attack briefly.
Moments after poking one of them, roughly, more wakes up and yeah, moves in for the kill.
I took them lightly in the first few tries, a rookie mistake. I kept on using the short melee weapons and got smashed every time. Each had a considerable amount of health and had to be away from their bullish head butts and charges and swings.
Looking at my blood vial count, I was messy. The locking mechanism hinders the true dodge movement, and makes you an easy target for the enemies; a crooked game made by the devs.
The fight was a long one, took me 7 whole minutes. Didn’t take any chance this time and patiently delivered the final blow.
The rune they gave was 23k, not too shabby, and they also gave me the key to the clock tower. There was another door, just behind the Living Failures.
Behind this door resided the lady, the main keeper of the Astral Clocktower, Lady Maria.
Do enjoy the enormous fighting gameplay.
