Every Christmas, I usually give myself a gift, I do this in order to motivate myself a little bit, it´s sort of a tradition to me. At the end of 2022, I decided to buy a Xbox 360 Slim, I wasn´t too sure at first but in the end I was delighted by said option. Why buying a Xbox 360? Honestly, I've owned every seventh generation gaming console, except for the Xbox 360, I had the money and I just bought it, I didn´t want to be without the experience of holding a Xbox 360 in my hands, if I regret buying the console, I can just sell the system and get my money back later.
Another one of my reasons for buying this system is not to feel limited with Nintendo Switch games only, don't get me wrong, I love my Nintendo Switch, but there are games that I just can't play, which frustrates me a little bit because I´m someone who plays everything, but that is the limitation of having the Nintendo Switch as a main console, and with the Xbox 360, I can stay calm for a while and play video games that are not on the Nintendo Switch, and even if they are, they are poorly optimized. It's actually a bit useless to own an Xbox 360 nowadays, since all the games are already on PC, but as I mentioned before, I'd like to try the experience of owning an Xbox 360.
The Xbox 360 at the time got many redesigns: Arcade, Slim, E, etc. I have opted for the Slim because it´s the one with the best cooling or that was what I was able to investigate at the time, the previous models didn´t inspire me confidence due to the infamous legend of the Red Ring of Death, it´s true that pre-Slim designs were prone to suffering from poor cooling, I didn't like the Xbox 360 E either, I find it a bit unnecessary, it was literally made to get people used to the new Xbox One Fat next-gen design, honestly, releasing a new design just for this, seems pretty unnecessary to me.
Having said that, I really like the design of the Xbox 360 Slim, it´s considerably thin considering its previous designs, I like the curve of this design, I really find it attractive. I would like it to be white, I think it would suit it the console better, even so, the black color is fine, it mixes very well with the green color emanating from the power button, the console gives a "premium" air thanks to its slim design. On one side of the console, there is the ventilation grill, it seems to me that it´s in a good place, the size is appropriate as well.
There has always been this debate about which console is better, if the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3, it´s not something that I´d know how to answer, they look the same to me, there are people who say that the PlayStation 3 is more powerful, others who say that the Xbox 360 is even more powerful, it´s a debate that honestly doesn´t seem to have an end but there is one thing that is true, the hardware of the Xbox 360 is more versatile, as I understand it, it's easier to program on the Xbox 360, so many games ended up looking and running better on the Xbox 360 than the PS3.
Something that fascinates me about the Xbox 360 is its backward compatibility, it's something that I adore and that Sony has never been able to implement very well with the PlayStation. The fact of owning a Xbox 360 and being able to play a wide catalog of games from the original Xbox feels very good, there are many games on the Xbox that are gems like Psychonauts or many multiplatform videogames from the PS2 and Xbox, I think it's one of the the best things that Xbox has to offer, its backward compatibility.
This is the Xbox 360 controller, I find it quite nice, besides that it´s very ergonomic, it feels very good to the touch, the best thing about this controller are its triggers, they are extremely good for shooters and for any game that uses them. I'm putting it next to the Nintendo Switch pro controller because I find it funny how much it resembles the Xbox 360 controller, it's the same design, just with a few different buttons changed. Anyway, I´m satisfied with the Xbox 360 controller, it's a shame that it's not usable on current Xbox consoles.
I have been using the Xbox 360 for a month, playing GTA V, basically one of the games that squeezes the most out of the hardware of the console, honestly, I didn´t have any problems, the console doesn´t heat up and the cooling system doesn´t do any weird noise, the control is responsive and the console seems quite fast for me, it has its loading screens but they are not insufferable, everything loads quickly, for now, I am satisfied with the console.
