Okay, this is definitely something that I should have done a long time ago... one of the more annoying design decisions on the Steam Deck was to have the USB-C charging port on the top of the machine... which when you are sitting at a desk with the charging ports in front of you might make good sense.
However most of the time, I'm using it in bed or whilst travelling... and that means that the charging supply is LOWER than the level of Deck. And that means that cable reaches up over the top and then bends back down to plug into the charging port.... and places strain on the port and cable... plus makes it a bit uncomfortable to hold as the machine is being gently torqued backwards.
Anyway... I had bought a couple of these U shaped adaptors ages ago... but hadn't started using them... because... well, inertia.
But this week, I snapped them on because I was starting to get tired of seeing the strain on the cable and port as I was playing more on the Deck instead of the laptop... Yakuza, Like a Dragon... anyway, great game for relaxing... but definitely needs the Deck to be charged constantly as it is a bit of a battery drainer.
... and wow, this works like a charm! Fits comfily on the back, reduces strain on the cable and port... and the machine doesn't feel like it is being pulled back!
Sigh... I knew there was a reason I got these!
Anyway, the only downside is that you can't leave the adaptor plugged in when putting the machine back in the case... the case is a touch too tight for it. But I'm wondering if I can make a little cutout in the case to fit it! Almost worth it if I don't have to keep taking the adaptor off!
