I know I've been a bit inactive with Hive but us mortal people have to keep up with the pace of life that work sometimes asks of us, normally when I'm on a work trip or I'm up to my neck in paperwork to do I don't usually play too many long or competitive video games, instead I spend every morning looking for recommendations of much shorter games, I almost always get recommended indies of very good quality but a few weeks ago a family member brought this game to my attention, Untitled Goose Game is as unexpected as its own title, it's one of those games that I consider to be perfect experiences in every way, a game that lacks nothing and lacks nothing and serves in itself as a very good quality product without resorting to high standards in every aspect it touches, Realism? Nah, we'll replace it with a marked style of art design and focus on making every character and environment unique to the player, Limited playability? We'll cover it with a free world with small objectives that the user can complete at his own pace, but in essence the whole experience is unlocked from the very first moment, that's how unexpected Untitled Goose Game is.
First I would like to talk about the creators and the vision they had in this game, they are 4 developers who go through the industry with the name of House House House and have a precision to portray humor and charm in a video game, because Untitled Goose Game from the first moment captures the personality of the game perfectly and makes us want to play it and annoy the citizens, We are put several scenarios where we can do various actions to interfere in the routines of people always waiting for a reaction or we can be guided by our notebook where we will have small activities that we will be doing, but I already warn you that the number of actions that we can perform from the first moment far exceeds our list, giving us also variety between several fairly simple puzzles in which the reaction of the inhabitants and its main character (the goose) are the main attraction.
The Goose that we will control will go unnoticed in most of the town but once we get rid of the desire to be good we can steal objects, throw them, throw them to the neighbors or simply steal them and run to throw them into the water, we will have many possibilities in each small area that we step on and in which each one will test us with a puzzle in which we must coordinate stealth with our ability to coordinate our movements and get ahead because also House House and its gameplay system has few variants and focuses nothing more on making the puzzles accessible to everyone, not so simple but not too complicated for players.
Goose Game is one of those games that have a characteristic charm and that can easily occupy several hours of your time, although the main campaign of the game is planned to be played in about 5 hours we will have many more things to do if we go at our own pace through all areas exploring objects, because the game also has several playable secrets that we can perform with our goose and extend the experience a little more, also because it turns out to be a game so simple in terms of controls and so relaxing in appearance and atmosphere that you will probably overlook the list of objectives and go to annoy the neighbors from the first moment.
Untitled Goose Game also has another card in its favor, how little humor is used in video games, here this game uses it to its advantage to give more personality to its main character and get us into funny situations on several occasions, it is not that it is too intelligent humor but it serves to liven up our passage through the gardens and have fun in the process, being a goose gives so much curiosity that in a short time we will have us stealing radios from the neighbors and floating through the water laughing at how stupid they are, the game takes out of the comfort zone to many players and proposes a simple and elegant goal: to have fun, because after all there aren't too many crucial objectives and even if the whole campaign requires fulfilling them to advance we (the player) will always have the last word when it comes to moving forward.
This is one of those beautiful games that have a lot to offer despite being a short experience for the eyes of the industry, is one of those games that comes and catches you, thanks to the incredible affection of the development team of House House as well as a crazy idea but well applied have been able to get one of those jewels that I personally consider to be perfect, being how small they are allow to encompass much detail and much personality in its 4 areas, allowing many objects as well as an experience of being goose much more fluid and "real".
