Time to play in the dark 🔦
I was a huge fan of Remedy's game Control but somehow had managed to never play one of their older titles Alan Wake. The two games have story elements that are intertwined and I knew the creepy supernatural setting was something that I already loved a lot. I was curious about Alan Wake but wasn't willing to pay out of pocket for a remaster of a game from 2010. I never played the original version and I assumed I wouldn't get to play the remastered version either.
That all changed when PlayStation announced that Alan Wake Remastered would be one of the free PS Plus titles during the month of July 2023. I knew this one would be worth giving a shot, but I wasn't sure I was really in the mood to get super deep into a story-driven single-player experience. I still decided to finally try out Alan Wake to see what all the hype was about.
In today's video, I will be going through the first 15-20 minutes of the game. At least a quarter of that is cutscenes, but there are also some intense gameplay moments. If you aren't aware, one of your main tools in this game is your flashlight. The darkness is where you are most vulnerable. Sounds like a recipe for jump scares, even more so than Control.
Enjoy the video and let me know your thoughts about Alan Wake. I'm not convinced that this is a game that I will complete, but I do think it is worth visiting. The fact that it is already a PS Plus title is pretty awesome considering the remaster came out back in late 2021. This is all done to ramp up the hype for Alan Wake 2 which comes out this fall.
Thanks for watching and be sure to drop any comments you may have down below, I will get back to everyone.
