Somebody fucking revive me ⛑
Just because I have been playing Call of Duty games since 2003 doesn't mean that I am unstoppable. I thought that since I beat COD Cold War on Veteran last year, I could do the same with Vanguard. Wow was I wrong about that! Maybe I just wasn't in the right mindset when I played. Perhaps it was because I have taken a few weeks off of the Vanguard multiplayer due to getting burnt out. Neither of those should impair me since I have close to 20 years of experience with this FPS. Yet here I am to report that I failed, HARD!
Veteran is the hardest difficulty in the Call of Duty singleplayer. I have struggled to finish on this difficulty setting in pretty much every COD to release. I got close with Call of Duty 2 but ultimately was unable. World at War was one of the hardest that I remember, but there was one mission I just could not finish, I believe Heart of the Reich was its name. Some Call of Duty campaigns I didn't even bother playing. Others I breezed through on easy. Cold War was the only one in recent memory that I actually completed on Veteran. I'm proud of that achievement, but I'm honestly not even sure how I did it.
I started my Vanguard Veteran run on a high note, I was feeling pretty good. Little did I know, I was about to become highly annoyed towards the later parts of the first mission. I got so pissed off about dying over and over that I decided to just give up. Yes, I am finished with Vanguards singleplayer, at least on Veteran. I still want to go back and play through all of it, but it will be an easier difficulty for sure. This shit is just too brutal. WW2 CODs on Veteran have always been hell to me and that remains the case with Vanguard.
