My 2021 PlayStation Wrap-Up 🎮
I've said it time and time again, I love stats. Numbers are a lot of fun, especially when they are going up. One of my favorite parts about the end of the year is recapping everything that happened in the previous 365 days. Most of my favorite ways to enjoy my free time do a great job of keeping all of my info organized well for me. PlayStation did me a solid and sent over my 2021 PlayStation Wrap-Up. It arrived a few weeks into 2022, but better late than never.
Today I just wanted to go over some of my numbers and talk about how 2021 was probably one of my favorite years in gaming in such a long time. I got a launch PS5 back at the end of 2020, but 2021 was my first full year of owning a next-gen console. I have nothing but great things to say about my PS5.
Let's get started...
706 total hours is a lot of time spent gaming. That is nearly 30 days of playing time. I know there are many that go far beyond that, but as a busy adult 700+ seems like so much to me. Now that I am no longer working a full-time job at some shit hole, 2022 is about to be my biggest year of gaming since back in my college/high school days when I had nearly unlimited free time.
I haven't touched my PS4 since I got my PS5 setup. I have no reason to go back at all. I must admit that I still have played many PS4 games on my PS5. They pretty much all run far better on this new console and it has encouraged me to catch up with many older games that I missed out on with my bogged down launch PS4 that I was using since 2013.
When it comes to days that I logged into my PS5, it says 255/365. I am a pretty consistent gamer. Hours in VR still reads zero. I am patiently awaiting the release of the PS VR2 before I begin my journey into the world of VR gaming.
I feel like I played way more than 39 games last year, but I guess that is the number. That still is over 3 new games each month. I like to mix up what I am playing and keep my content fresh. I get most of my games for free luckily. The ones that I do buy are getting more costly with the next-gen games jumping from $60 to $70. I can still remember when the standard was $50 across the board. Am I that old?
This blows my mind. I spent more time in Share Factory Studio than any other game in 2021. That means I probably spent just as much time editing and posting gameplay videos as I have actually played the games themselves. I am truly dedicated to sharing my favorite gaming moments with my people on Hive. This isn't just leisure for me, it is work and I love what I do.
Share Factory Studio is a blessing to me. It makes sharing my 4K gameplay a total breeze. I imported my own custom intro to using for my videos. I am exporting files pretty much daily on my PS5 and I never thought it would be this quick and easy for me to do. I also have to blame it on the fact that I am productive and don't waste time when recording and editing my footage. This is all just so much easier on PS5 than it was on PS4. Now if only they would start adding themes to the PS5 Share Factory as they have on the PS4 version.
I am slowly building up my PlayStation trophy collection to look pretty impressive. I was on Xbox until 2013 and had my gamerscore over 100,000. Sadly none of that matters over here on PS and I had to start fresh. I am not as bad with collecting trophies as I was for earning every single achievement known to man. I do however still catch myself trying to gather every trophy for a game just to finally get that platinum, which means pretty much nothing since my friend's list is filled with mostly people I do not even know. At least I feel accomplished with my gaming milestones.
6 total platinum trophies ins 2021 is not too bad in my eyes. If I am remembering correctly, the games are Cyberpunk 2077, Control Ultimate Edition, Rogue Company, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Ghost of Tsushima, and Maneater. I've finished a lot of other games, but it is tedious to get the platinum and I stay away from that work quite often. Rogue Company and Ghost of Tsushima are games that I got platinums for in 2020, but they came out with PS5 versions for each of those games, which allowed me to auto-pop second platinum for those games. I need to do the same for Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order's PS5 version, but I gave my copy of that game away to my brother. The fact that he still hasn't even played it shocks me since that game is freaking amazing. I will probably do the same for Cyberpunk's PS5 version once it finally arrives.
Well that about does it for my 2021 gaming stats on PlayStation. I love looking back and remembering all of the great times that I had. 2022 is about to be an even better year for gaming. There are so many awesome games releasing, plus I have more time than ever to game finally. I am going to be grinding so hard all of 2022 and I look forward to sharing more of my gaming content with you than ever. Thank you so much for the support!
