I know, I'm 5 years late

Recently I was put on to a game called Shadow Warrior 2 by the homie Hive account@strawhat. The game is a lot like Doom, except with an oriental style and lots of humor. The fast-paced action is something I am a big fan of, the same goes for Japanese and Chinese culture. I say both of Japan and China because I can't say for sure which this game is. Most of the stuff in the game seems to be Japanese, but the main character is named Lo Wang and that sounds Chinese. I found information online that says Wang is an assassin who works for the powerful Japanese industrial magnate, Orochi Zilla. I've decided to just call it oriental as to not cause a debate.

The game itself was released on PC in 2016, then came to consoles in 2017. I somehow never played the game until now. The reviews for it were great and I feel like the game was made for me to enjoy. Especially since I recently finished Doom Eternal and loved it tremendously. The thing is, Eternal was running at 120 fps and close to 4k on my PS5. Shadow Warrior 2 is older and only hits 30fps and with 1080p resolution on consoles. I didn't realize this until I started playing. My goodness is it a huge change of pace compared to these next-gen games. I didn't realize just how far console gaming has come and just spoiled I am with smooth framerates and high-rez graphics.

Despite this game not being as new and amazing it probably was when it first came out, it still is a lot of fun. The character designs are fantastic, the gameplay is addicting, and the bits of humor are appreciated as well. I hope I can continue playing this and not give up on it in exchange for something newer. Speaking of that, Shadow Warrior 3 has been shown off and it looks so freaking good. I will be getting that one for sure, but there is no exact release date yet. It was said to be out in 2021, so we shall see if that remains true.
