PlayStation continues to be relentless in 2023 🎮
The latest State of Play livestream from PlayStation came with a plethora of new information. This event coincided with the recent release of the PSVR2, but that wasn't the only thing talked about. We also got a ton of new information about the upcoming 4-player co-op game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. That game is coming from the studio behind the famed Batman Arkham series, so hopes are high. I am pleased to say that the gameplay footage makes this game look incredibly fun to play.
This post isn't about either of those first two announcements that I mentioned. Instead, I want to focus on the free titles coming to PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium during the month of March.
As if February's games weren't already good enough to hold people over for quite a while, they've stepped it up even further in March. In my opinion, PlayStation is really holding up its end of the bargain when it comes to consistently updating the PS Plus game catalog. They also have slacked off on the basic Essential tier freebies.
There are 8 games that we will be getting during the month of March. I'll talk about two groups of games separately. Let's go ahead and get started.
PS Plus Essential
The Essential titles always come out on the first Tuesday of every month. This means that we will have to wait until March 7th to get the following three games added to our library.
1.Battlefield 2042
This game had a rough launch, but I still gave it a chance and spent at least 40-50 hours playing it. If you love Battlefield, you will probably enjoy 2042. This will also be timed to release right around the same time as the new season which includes another new map. Hopefully, this influx of players with access to the game will breathe new life into it.
2.Minecraft Dungeons
Combine a little bit of Minecraft with some dungeon-crawler action and you get Minecraft Dungeons. Need I say more?
3.Code Vein
Think Dark Souls, except with an anime art style. That's literally it.
PS Plus Extra
The Extra titles are released on the third Tuesday of each month. That means March 20th is when we will gain access to these next five titles. It's likely that there will be additional games of lesser caliber added at the same time, but that is yet to be announced.
1.Tchia
I was extremely ecstatic when I saw that this game was going to release day on PS Plus Extra. It is incredibly unique and I love creating games like this. You are thrown into a massive open world with a gorgeous art style. The best part is that you can transform it into any object or animal in the game. I can confirm that you indeed can turn into a dolphin, so it's a dream come true for me.
2.Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection
Uncharted is one of the most popular PlayStation franchises. You may have seen Tom Holland playing Nathan Drake in the Hollywood film Uncharted. The latest and greatest version of these aged games is the recent PS5 upgrade that came out last year. This is by far the best way to play Uncharted.
3.Immortals Fenyx Rising
This is a Ubisoft title, so you know that means a massive open world with way too much stuff on the map to do. That doesn't mean the game can't be fun, but Ubisoft games are always very hard for me to finish because they take so long. With Immortals, it's the graphics that do it for me. It's a bright and colorful world centered around Greek Mythology. It may sound like Assasin's Creed Odyssey, but it is much more than that. I've played the demo and have been wanting to give the full game a chance, now we can do that.
4.Rainbow Six Extraction
I had a free weekend with this game already, but it wasn't for me. I still think it's a great game though, I just didn't have a group of friends to play it with. It's a game meant to be played in co-op. Very similar to the field of Rainbow Six Siege and even has some of the same characters, but trust me when I say it is a totally different game. The gunplay is awesome in this one and it's super creepy.
5.Ghostwire Tokyo
This is the only game on the Extra list that I already own. Although it will not benefit me at all, I can't wait for others to get to check this game out if they haven't already done so. If you love Japan, then you really must play this game. It is such a gorgeous and realistic recreation of the city of Tokyo and the many districts within it. The gameplay is different from most FPS games and it's overall just really fun. I never did finish it, but I enjoyed the time that I spent with it and highly recommend it if you think a supernatural Tokyo sounds cool.
Another month with plenty of games to play at little to no cost 🤩
I highly advise that you look up gameplay videos for these games. There are so many great ones getting added to PS Plus in March of 2023.
I'm very happy that I renewed my PS Plus Extra membership in February. Not only can I enjoy all of these titles, but so can my brother since we game share our digital library from several hundred miles away.
Make sure you are game-sharing with somebody who you love and trust because it doesn't make sense to have two people both paying for the more expensive Extra membership.
Comment below which of the 8 games mentioned today has you the most excited.
