JRPG fans tune in 🎌🗺️🔥

Tales of Arise was recently added to the PS Plus game catalog at the end of February 2024. I've never played a Tales game before and I wasn't sure I'd enjoy this one much at all. Still, I had to give it a shot.

Tales of Arise is an action-packed RPG that transports players to the vibrant and visually stunning world of Dahna and Rena. Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, the game weaves a compelling narrative of resistance and liberation, following the journey of two protagonists, Alphen and Shionne, as they strive to overthrow the oppressive rule of the Renan people. The game delivers a rich and emotionally resonant narrative, complemented by a diverse cast of characters, each with their own motivations and backstories, creating a deeply immersive and captivating storytelling experience.

The combat in Tales of Arise is dynamic and fast-paced, blending real-time action with strategic elements, allowing players to execute a variety of combo attacks, special abilities, and team-based maneuvers to overcome adversaries. The game's emphasis on fluid, skill-based combat provides players with a range of options to engage enemies, fostering a sense of adaptability and mastery. Additionally, the title introduces a new Boost Strike feature, enabling players to execute powerful cooperative attacks with their companions, further enhancing the excitement and impact of battles.

With its breathtaking visuals, compelling narrative, and engaging combat mechanics, Tales of Arise has garnered significant attention for its ability to deliver a captivating and emotionally immersive RPG experience. The game's fusion of rich storytelling, strategic combat, and a meticulously crafted world promises to captivate players, inviting them to embark on an unforgettable adventure through the expansive and beautifully realized realms of Dahna and Rena.

With that said, this is not a game made for me. It's rare that a JRPG gets me hooked and this one certainly did not. It looks cool and I enjoyed the music, but that's about it.
