Freedom Fighters, a story driven, third-person shooter videogame that was released by the end of the year 2003 by the developer IO interactive and publisher EA games. This game was really good at the time of its released, it was so good that it became a cult classic.
The player assumes the role of Chris, the one with the blue bib trousers. Chris and his partner are plumbers and knocks to an apartment in which they were requested to do some servicing.
And then the soviet invaded murica.
Chris' partner got caught by the soviet personnel while Chris himself was able to hide.
After the soviet personnel left with Chris' partner, Chris went to look and found Americans being detained by a lone soviet soldier. With his mighty pipe wrench He whacked the shit out of the guard.
One of the detainees is Mr. Jones, who seem to have experience and knowledge of what is goin on.
Chris followed Mr. Jones and fought the soviets, maybe as a way to rescue his partner. Sadly when they went out to see, Chris' partner is seen flown off on a helicopter.
As the fighting stop, Mr Jones, Chris and a fellow rebel needed to escape the vicinity. Chris with his mighty Pipe Wrench was able to open a manhole cover and they retreated to the sewers.
And that's how Chris became a freedom fighter.
As Chris, the freedom fighter. you are tasked with liberating key locations by removing the soviet flag and replacing it with the flag of murica.
The flagpole for the most part is the end of the mission, some missions have subquests such as bombing a helicopter pad or rescuing prisoners.
As this game is a third-person shooter, we have to talk about gunplay. It's atrocious, seldom does the bullets land where you point at except when you are using a sniper rifle, I guess it just goes to show that our Chris is just a plumber and not a skilled marksman. Ammunition is also scarce for the most part of the game as the primary source of it are from guns dropped by downed enemies, what's worse is you only get to keep the ammunition of the weapon you are currently carrying.
And here comes the main attraction of the game, as the game progresses Chris ends up earning charisma points and with it comes the ability to recruit other freedom fighters. Your own personal army. Chris can order his troops to attack bunkers as he stays at the back.
Chris' meatshields with guns aren't immortals though and must be revived via medkits which are quite plenty to go around.
The game ends when the soviet forces are repelled off murica, with a special scene depicting a special moment with our chad Chris and his girl.
When I rate things, I always use a three-point system.
1 for Bad
2 for Okay
3 for Great
I must point out that I have very low standards and is easily impressed.
so it's very hard for me to give a score of 1,
and very easy for me to give a score of 3.
