Finally Got One!!
I have been trying to get my hands on a new PS5 since they released almost a year ago and they have been impossible to find. It seems the new consoles are all going to bots that are buying them and selling them for 2 to 3 times the cost. So last night when my wife found someone local here selling one on Facebook, she told me we could get it if I wanted. She knows how much of a nerd I am and how much I long I have been trying to get one.
So $800 later, I have a brand new PS5 and an extra controller. $800 isn't too bad considering I didn't need to pay taxes or anything on it, which would have put the total cost for the PS5 and controller to near $650. I am just glad that I got one now and I can play all the games that I have been missing out on that are Playstation exclusive.
One of the games I am most excited about is Horizon New Dawn. I have wanted to play this game since it released back in 2017. It has some updated graphics for the PS5 and it looks amazing.
The game is an action RPG that follows the life of a young girl name Aloy. The world has been overrun by robots that look like animals. It is a pretty interesting concept, especially because it feels like it is a primitive time, but I think it is actually a pretty advanced civilization that created the robots and then something may have happened that made the humans live like old tribes.
While exploring, Aloy finds a dead body with a small sensor thing on its head and when she puts it on her head, she begins to see holograms and all sorts of other hi-tech stuff. It basically gives her a HUD that displays all sorts of information.
It will be cool to see how this technology is used throughout the game. She is able to scan enemies and find weak points and their patterns they walk, which helps her sneak past them.
These graphics are amazing and there are a bunch of cool lighting effects and ray tracing that showcase the power of the PS5.
I can't wait to play through this game because it has had some amazing reviews over the years and part two is going to be released early 2022. Hopefully by then, I have caught up with all the games that I have access to with my PS5.
The other game I started playing and was excited about was the newest God of War game. I haven't looked much into this game because I knew I wasn't going to be able to play it until I got a Playstation, but I have loved every installment into the God of War series and I have heard this one is pretty awesome too.
The graphics in this game are pretty amazing as well, but I think that Horizon New Dawn does look a bit better. But I have only put about 30 minutes into this game.
This game's story is a bit different from the previous games because it appears you play alongside with Kratos' son.
After you send Kratos' wife off to the next life, Kratos sets off with his son to teach him how to be a man. One thing that I am going to have to get used to is that Kratos seems like a shitty father and treats his son pretty bad. I am not sure how it will play out in the game, but it is weird to me how mean he is to him. But I guess he is making him hard or something.
I am looking forward to playing this game, but I will wait until I finish Horizon first. I don't want to get overwhelmed with so many new games that I don't play through any of them. I just need to stay focused on one at a time.
The UI within the PS5 interface is pretty awesome. I really like how clean it all is and how smooth all of the transitions are. There is not much difference to me in how the PS5 compares to the Xbox Series X. I think that both systems are pretty amazing and they both have their perks to them. The UI is going to take me a bit to get used to on the PS5, but I think I am going to like it. It is a lot cleaner and the Playstation store runs a lot smoother than the Microsoft store.
Anyways, thanks for stopping by and checking out my ramblings on the PS5 and the games I have tried so far. I am looking forward to be playing any of the new games that come out now that I have all of the consoles. I don't think I will be playing much on my PC though because I prefer consoles. The whole gaming experience on consoles has always been better for me.
