Hi there. In this Pokemon TCG post, I cover the Perfect Order set reveal and critique new Japanese cards including Decidueye ex and Mega Starmie ex.
Perfect Order Main Set
There is a reveal of the Perfect Order main set products. The Japan set is called Nihil Zero which releases in late January 2026. Perfect Order releases on March 27, 2026.
Two known English cards from this set (at the time of writing) are Mega Zygarde ex and Meowth ex.
One promo card is Tyrunt. This one is colourful.
Scatterbug, Spwepa
Both Scatterbug and Spewpa are not great attackers but you need them for Vivillon.
Vivillion
The Big Wings ability does hand disruption to the opponent once during your turn. You may have your opponent shuffle their hand and put all of those cards to the bottom of their deck. Then the opponent draws 4 cards.
The Blow Through attack requires one Grass attack for 60 base damage. If a Stadium is in play, then this does 60 more damage.
You can use Forest of Vitality for fast Grass evolution but I don't know if this evolution line is worth playing for hadn disruption and some small damage.
Seel & Dewgong
Seel is a Basic Water Pokemon with 80HP, a two retreat cost and Metal weakness. As an attacker, Seel is not great.
Dewgong as an attacker is not great but its ability could be useful. The Wash Out ability allows you to move Water Energy from your Benched Pokemon to your Active Pokemon as many times you like during your turn. This Dewgong is similar to Armarouge from the Scarlet & Violet Base set but for Fire Energy.
The ability text does not mention Basic Water Energy so I think this Dewgong is compatible with Prism Energy.
Maybe Water Pokemon get a comeback. Water Pokemon as of late have not been good since the absence of Irida a year ago.
Rowlet & Dartrix
Rowlet is not a great attacker but the Find a Friend attack can be helpful in the early game.
Dartrix is the Stage 1 evolution of Rowlet. The first attack is not great and the second attack is kind of helpful. You could use Ignition Energy for the turn to bench hit one Pokemon for 90 damage.
Decidueye ex
The previous version of Decidueye ex from Obsidian Flames saw no competitive play. Maybe this Decidueye ex will see play.
The Crush Arrow attack requires one Grass Energy and 3 Colourless Energy to deal 240 damage. This attack also discards 1 Energy from the opponent's Active Pokemon.
Decidueye ex's Sniper Eye ability activates when the opponent has exactly 4 cards in their hand. Ignore all Colourless Energy in its Pokemon attack costs. That would mean that Crush Arrow would cost only 1 Grass Energy for its attack.
To get the opponent to 4 cards in hand, you would use the hand disruption supporter card Judge.
Grow Grass Energy
Grow Grass Energy is a Special Energy card that provides Grass Energy to a Pokemon.
The Grass Pokemon this card is attached to gains 20 HP.
Staryu
Staryu is a good Basic Water Pokemon for the early game. One water Energy for 20 damage is good. Staryu is needed for...
Mega Starmie ex
Here is Mega Starmie ex. This is the evolved form of Staryu. It has 330HP, Lightning weakness, a two retreat cost and two attacks.
The first attack is Jet Blow. For one Water Energy you deal 120 damage to the Active Pokemon plus 50 damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon. It is possible for this attack to Knockout 2 Pokemon with Jet Blow.
Nebula Beam requires 3 Colourless Energy for its attack. It does 210 damage with the attack damage not being affected by Weakness, Resistance or any effects on the opponent's Active Pokemon. Meeting 3 Colourless Energy could be tricky but there is Ignition Energy in the format.
