Pokemon has announced Pitch Black as its next English Pokemon TCG set. This is the fifth set in the Mega Evolutions series. The English Pitch Black set is based on Japan's Abyss Eye set featuring Mega Darkrai ex.
Elite Trainer Box Is Black & Grey
One thing to note is that the Elite Trainer Box for this Pitch Black set is mostly black and grey. No bright colours.
In the Elite Trainer box, you get a Zarude illustration rare promotional card. The image below has the Pokemon Center stamp. (This one you have to order from the Pokemon Center website to get the stamped version. Online waiting is likely needed and competition is fierce.)
Other Notes
English versions of Mega Darkrai ex and Mega Excardrill ex have been revealed.
There is also a Mega Chandelure ex in this set. No reveals of this card as of yet.
It is unusual for a main set to release in July. This year is the 30th year of the Pokemon franchise so they are doing things a bit differently this year. Main sets are smaller now and are almost 1 to 1 with Japanese sets.
This Pitch Black set releases on July 17, 2026. Prerelease events where you can get cards early and play a casual tournament are held from July 4, 2026 to July 12, 2026.
