Hi there. In this post, I do a deck profile on the Mega Kangaskhan ex with Bouffalant deck.
Mega Kangaskhan ex + Bouffalant Core Cards
A Mega Kangaskhan ex deck with Bouffalant does not have Mega Absol ex. It uses Bouffalants instead.
The idea of this combo is provide a mega wall. One hit knockouts on a Mega Kangaskhan ex with Bouffalant is possible but it is very difficult. Not all decks can do one hit knockouts or deal big damage. The only two decks in the metagame that do one hit knockouts are Gholdengo ex and Raging Bolt ex.
Munkidoris are there to bounce back damage if the opponent deals damage but does not do one hit knockouts.
The ACE SPEC card in this deck archetype is Precious Trolley. You want to get your Pokemon all out as early as possible. Arven helps out with searching for this.
One helpful Supporter card is Penny. Penny lets you pick up a Basic Pokemon in play back into your hand. One popular use case is to use Penny on a damaged or at risk Basic Pokemon into your hand.
Sample Deck Profile
This deck's gameplan is simple. Setup Mega Kangaskhan ex and Bouffalants as early as possible to set up the mega walls. You then slowly load Energy on the Mega Kangaskhan ex and start attacking. You attack while you absorb damage from non-one hit knockouts.
Precious Trolley is the ACE SPEC of choice for fast setup. Arven helps too.
If Mega Kangaskhan has low HP or is at risk of being Knocked Out, you can use Penny to pick it up. There is also Pecharunt ex and Yveltal to retreat lock non attacking Pokemon and abuse Munkidori.
Boss's Orders is there to target weak Pokemon. I don't like this particular strategy but it does work sometimes. You can use the Mega Kangaskhan ex attack, Boss's Orders and hope to hit Heads to possibly get 250 damage on something like Latias ex or Fezandipiti ex.
A Deck Variant With Moltres
One of the biggest weaknesses for Mega Kangaskhan ex is one hit knockout attackers like Gholdengo ex and Raging Bolt ex. As Gholdengo ex decks are pretty popular, this particular version of the Mega Kangaskhan ex deck put in two copies of Moltres. Moltres does 110 damage on a Pokemon ex but deals 220 damage against Genesect ex in Gholdengo ex decks and 220 damage against Teal Mask Ogerpon ex in Raging Bolt ex decks.
Brave Bangle also helps Moltres hit 140 damage times 2 to deal 280 damage on Gholdengo ex.
Advantages
- Fairly easy to use for beginners.
- Mega Kangaskhan ex with Bouffalants Are Strong
- Munkidori Abuse To Move Damage Counters If Opponent Does Not Do One Hit Knockout
- Penny As A Powerful Defensive Card In Deck
Disadvantages
- Deck Can Be Reliant On Precious Trolley
- Mega Kangaskhan ex Weak To Fighting Types like Mega Lucario ex
- Generally Not Favoured Against OHKO decks like Gholdengo ex and Raging Bolt ex
- Never Played This But I Think Mirror Matchup Can Take Long And Hurt Your Brain
Closing Thoughts
Mega Kangaskhan ex with Bouffalant decks are an okay alternative to popular archetypes like Gholdengo ex, Charizard ex, Dragapult ex and Gardevoir ex. The cards should be inexpensive and fairly easy to find.
The main attacker and draw engine is Mega Kangaskhan ex. There are a few other alternative attackers but they are not as powerful as Mega Kangaskhan ex in this deck.
Bouffalants add more defense to Mega Kangaskhan ex. This weaknesses to this deck are Fighting types, and one hit Knockout Pokemon like Gholdengo ex and Raging Bolt ex. Games with this deck could take long. A game taking long may result in a tie instead of a win.
