Key Cards
Fighting Gong
Fighting Gong is a very good item card for Fighting decks. You can search your deck for either a Basic Fighting Pokemon or a Basic Fighting Energy and put it into your hand. (Shuffle deck after)
In a new format without Nest Ball, Fighting Gong's value goes up for Fighting decks.
Solrock & Luntaone
Solrock and Lunatone are a great pair in the standard format. Solrock is a good attacker if Lunatone is in play. Lunatone is very good for getting Fighting Energy in the discard and for drawing 3 cards.
These two is the main draw engine for the Mega Lucario ex deck.
Mega Lucario ex
Mega Lucario ex is the evolved form of Riolu. It is the main beatstick attacker for this deck.
The Aura Jab first attack requires 1 Fighting Energy to deal 130 damage. It also lets you attach up to 3 Basic Fighting Energy from the discard pile to your Benched Pokemon in any way you like.
Mega Brave is the second attack. For 2 Fighting Energy, this attack does 270 damage. The downside is that Mega Brave cannot be used during your next turn (unless you switch it to the Bench).
Fezandipiti ex
Fezandipiti ex is a staple card for almost any deck. Once during your turn, if any of your Pokemon were Knocked Out during your opponent's last turn, you may draw 3 cards. This Flip The Script ability cannot be used more than once.
The Cruel Arrow attack is sometimes used. It can be good in some cases where you can deal 100 damage to any one of your opponent's Pokemon.
Hariyama
Hariyama is a good support Pokemon and alternate attacker. Upon evolution, you may choose to use the Heave-Ho Catcher ability. Switch 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon to the Active Spot.
The Wild Press attack for 3 Fighting Energy deals 210 damage with 70 recoil damage to itself. Hariyama can be used to target Fezandipiti ex for example.
Premium Power Pro
Premium Power Pro is a damage boosting Item card for Fighting Pokemon. During this turn, attacks used by your Fighting Pokemon do 30 more damage to the opponent's Active Pokemon before applying weakness and resistance.
This Item card is best used with Mega Lucario ex's second attack if you need more damage. Multiple copies can be played this turn if you need more damage.
Gameplay, Strategy
The gameplay with this Mega Lucario ex deck is pretty straightforward. Use mainly Mega Lucario ex to attack your opponent. The first attack on Mega Lucario ex is good against weaker Pokemon plus you accelerate Basic Fighting Energy from your discard pile to your Benched Pokemon. The second attack, Mega Brave is for hitting for bigger damage.
Hariyama serves as a second attacker given that it has 3 Fighting Energy on it. Solrock is a good alternate attacker against 70 HP or less Pokemon (provided that Lunatone is in play).
Use Premium Power Pro to add more damage for your Fighting Pokemon. Mega Lucario ex would need 2 to one hit knockout Dragapult ex. Alternatively, Gravity Mountain in play and one Premium Power Pro works against Dragapult ex.
Advantages
For a level 3 deck, the gameplay for this deck is not too difficult. Build up attackers and then attack.
Fighting is a good type against Electric types, most Normal types and some Dark Pokemon. Common support Pokemon such as Fezandipiti ex and Meowth ex (upcoming) are weak to Fighting Pokemon.
Solrock & Lunatone engine with Fighting Gong is pretty good. You have draw power and setup consistency.
Hariyama's ability is very good. Upon evolution, the ability is like Boss's Orders.
Disadvantages
Mega Lucario ex is weak to Psychic Pokemon. Psychic decks can easily get 3 Prizes off your Mega Lucario ex.
Sometimes it may not be easy to get the Mega Brave attack going. There is no Fighting energy acceleration (as of March 2026 until Perfect Order set arrives).
Like with any deck, this deck can suffer with consistency issues even with Fighting Gong, Solrock and Lunatone. It may not be easy to get Stage 1 Pokemon in play. You may get bad hands with something like multiple Premium Power Pro, evolved Pokemon and no Supporter.
Iris Fighting Spirit is not a common Supporter card. I am not sure if it is good in this deck.
Deck Adjustments - What To Take Out & What To Include
This deck product is really good. It is near perfect. There are a few cards that should be replaced.
Fezandpiti ex for upcoming Meowth ex
As good as Fezandpiti ex is, you don't really need it in this Lucario deck. One idea is to replace it for Meowth ex.
Remove Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex
Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex is an okay attack in the late game. If it gets stuck in the early game then it is really bad.
This attack is not common in many Mega Lucario ex decks. It can be removed.
Secret Box For Maximum Belt ACE SPEC
Secret Box is a good ACE SPEC card for setup purposes. For Mega Lucario ex, Maximum Belt is preferred so it can boost damage from 270 to 320 HP to one hit knockout a Dragapult ex.
Get Poke Pads
Poke Pad is a new staple card from Ascended Heroes. More reprints of this card are coming in the Perfect Order Set in late March 2026.
This card searches for any Pokemon that does not have a rule box from your deck into your hand. That would be non-Pokemon ex cards.
Other Card Considerations
There are different variations of the Mega Lucario ex. One site I like a lot is Pokecabook. They show winning deck lists from Japan. Japan is ahead in terms of sets but this Pokecabook site shows winning lists at local tournaments.
A few lists use Ciphermaniac's Codebreaking to manipulate the card draw from Lunatone. Carmine is sometimes used so you can discard Fighting energy and use it first turn.
Wallys' Compassion is not a bad inclusion for healing Mega Lucario ex. Genesect + Lucky Helmet is not bad either. Unfair Stamp is on the rise so having Genesect + tool shuts down ACE SPEC usage for your opponent.
With Iono out of the format, Judge is the main disruption card. It is not as powerful as Iono late game but it does prevent large hand sizes of 7 or more.
For those who do not like Dusclops or Dusknoir, one Psyduck can be good as a Support Pokemon. Those who do not like Bench sniping attacks on their non-Pokemon ex, Shaymin is good. These two are not in every deck.
Closing Notes
This deck product looks really good out of the box. There are a few cards in this deck that seem out of place but you can use this deck and start playing local tournaments.
Even though this is a level 3 deck, the gameplay of this deck is pretty straightforward. Mega Lucario ex is a beatstick attacker with Hariyama and Solrock as alternate attackers.
What makes this product nice is the reprints of Fezandipiti ex and the Secret Box ACE SPEC. Fezandipiti ex prices used to be around 20 CAD but have gone done in early 2026 because of the Trainer's Toolkit 2025 product. Reprinted Secret Box is nice as those are hard to find and the price once shot up to 20 to 30 CAD. Secret Box was the main ACE SPEC of choice in Gardevoir ex decks.
If you are a new player, this product is a good place to start. This product is also good for those who want Secret Box, Fezandipiti ex and some of the trainer cards here. Other than Fezandipiti ex and Secret Box, the other cards should be not too difficult to find and should be at low prices.
This product does release in May 2026. I think Mega Lucario ex will still be a good deck but it is uncertain if it would be a winning archetype for larger tournaments when the Chaos Rising main set comes out featuring Mega Greninja ex.
