King of the Hill is quite a long Amarr Cosmos mission to run. You are also going to need a couple of different ships to run it. From a scanning ship to a battleship. While the rewards from the missions themselves were not that great due to item prices. These are more for the faction gain than anything else.
Prefarming
This is not the first time you have needed to go to the Contested Amarr Crimson Keep in the Garisas system. This time, you just need to get a Corpum Commander Medallion. You can get this by looting a Blood Duke. Anything extra you get while there can always be great for an Alt if you plan on running more than one character in the future.
Next up, head over to the Zimse system in a scanning ship. There are some sites you can scan down for drops you will be needing. They are fragments and remains. They are found in special sites in Zimse. With the first site being called Drifting Cask. You need to collect Data Fragments I, II, and III.
Two of the Drifting Casks sites won’t have any guards. While one of them will have a small defense fleet guarding the can. These can just be looted; they don’t need to be hacked or anything like that. The one that has guards on it will be in battleships.
It’s also best to scan these sites all at once. As you start clearing them out, new ones respawn rather quickly in the system. The nice part of that is not having to wait around if some random person found one of these and looted the can, not knowing what the item dropped is used for.
While scanning, you will also find a site called Yamia Mida’s. It has a couple of battleships in it and drops Yamia’s remains that you will also be needing. You might pick this one up as well.
You will also need to finish farming from any Warrior belt rats 9 Encoding Matrix, which you should have more than that by now. Along with an Enigma Cypher Book. The book took quite some time to acquire, with me getting multiple times over all the other items needed for Amarr Cosmos missions that drop from the belt rats in the region of Araz.
King Of The Hill Missions
This is perhaps one of the longer Cosmos missions out there. It’s shared between two different NPCS. The first one is Zach Himun, who can be found in Zimse at the Imperial Administration.
While this is quite a few missions, you will end up running. Some of them do go by rather quickly with a little performing out of the way. I do highly recommend bringing a battleship to deal with the kill missions. As these missions are not messing around anymore.
The first mission where you need to loot an encrypted data chip. At least when I did it, shooting anything into the entire pocket was aggression. Thankfully, some of the ships are quite far off into the distance. While it might be possible to just go in and loot the container. I don’t find any fun in that.
The second mission requires you to retrieve a second chip. This complex was a lot less guarded. With everything being at quite a distance. A sniping fit would have been perfect for this one. The can you need to loot is almost 50km away, so keep that in mind.
The third mission has you turning in all the data fragments you had acquired prior. While turning in each one is its own mission. They only count a single mission combined.
The fourth mission is a simple, clear the entire straightforward kind of mission. Everything was at quite a range. This would have been another perfect mission if you were long-range to quickly clear out the site and be done.
The next mission from Zach Himun just has you turning in the Corpum Commander Medallion you should already have acquired. With the final one, he requires you to transport a note.
Once you have acquired E.F.A. ID Card by finishing the first half of the King of the Hill mission chain. It's time to turn our attention to Ammargal Detrone, who can be found in Nidupad at the imperial Palace. Make sure to bring the ID card, Enigama Cypher Book, 9 Encoding Matrix, and Yamis Remains.
The first part of the mission chain involved a lot of killing. The next part has quite a detour that I've not run into many missions offering that kind of mission type.
After turning in the ID card. Next up, you are just given a simple courier mission. Where you need to go and get a Decoding Device and deliver it to Ammargal Detrone. Note that the BPC reward is from the time bonus, so don’t sit on this one too long. They at least give you four hours, which you should only need 10 minutes, if that, depending on where you are sent.
Once you are back with the Decoding Device, the next mission is just turning in the Enigma Cypher Book. In return, you are given a BPC of Methros Enhanced Decoding Device. It ended up taking me around 2 hours to craft the item. The mission gives you six for the ISK bonus reward.
You can just go to the station in the system. Manufacture everything you have looted so far. While waiting around 1-2 hours for the item to craft, depending on your skills. You can always go and farm some Cosmos materials needed for all the BPC you've been getting as rewards.
As if you have not looted enough data chips. You are sent off again to clear a site and acquire yet another one. I’ll admit that with the large number of battlecruisers and battleships in proximity to each other. This one had me a little considering running.
It is at least not as bad as the final mission. Make sure to take out any elite frigates you see, as they can point and web. At least the good news is that each of the different groups can be pulled independently of the other. I was even able to pull some range without getting any aggression by heading in an empty direction. Giving myself a little extra room if things were to go bad.
Once that is done, I'm sure you are looking to get rid of those remains that have been sitting in your cargo hold for far too long. Thankfully, that is the next mission up. Hopefully, you don’t end up with my bad luck of mostly getting the same BPC repeatedly from most level 4 missions.
The final mission requires a lot of pocket clearing. I must collect around 30 million in bounties. Along with a decent chunk of loot from salvaging as well. You are going to need a decent battleship at this point, or it’s going to take a while to clear out the pockets in this final mission.
As you can tell, even the landing gate in this one looks quite nasty. While you can pull each group independently of the other. I found it best to put some distance between them and myself before opening fire. Giving myself enough range to one-shot all the smaller ships so I don’t end up getting swarmed.
This final complex ended up having 5 pockets in it. The fourth one was perhaps the worst of it, containing at least 10 battleships and a lot of other ships. Some rather decent bounties to be had.
The mission is finished once you clear the final fifth pocket. In there is an NPC called High Priest Jafa Elnin. While it shows he has a 6 million ISK bounty, I never got it after killing him. If nothing else, make sure to loot him for a few million in loot.
Final Thoughts
Like other level 4 Cosmos missions for Amarr. I felt the King of the Hill mission chain was a bit lacking in rewards. At least you do get some decent bounties. After just the bounties and salvaging everything, I cleared around 100 million. The BPC I got, on the other hand, was not worth my time.
At the very least. You do get some decent faction gains from running these. If you were close to being able to run the missions that have insane standing requirements, where you can turn in for faction ships. This might put you over the edge. If not, you've got quite a long way to go, as this is the end of the road for high sec missions. Everything else that I could find either has low sec or null sec parts to it.
