Video games, almost like any industry or entertainment medium, is a medium that takes things from others, not because they are not original, on the contrary, there are many games that are original and have taken impressive stories, such as Silent Hill just to give an example, but there are works outside of video games that have an impact on this industry. For example, video games take many things from cinema, it is normal that they do, because cinema is a very dynamic means of entertainment to show stories, it is a very entertaining way to do it, but leaving that aside, one of the most influential works is Berserk. Surely it rings a bell because it was trending on twitter a while ago, but to clarify, it is a manga with many decades that has had a tremendous influence on other entertainment media.
Los videojuegos, casi como cualquier industria o medio de entretenimiento, es un medio que toma cosas de otros, no porque no sean originales, al contrario, hay muchísimos juegos que son originales y que se han sacado historias impresionantes, como Silent Hill solo por poner un ejemplo, pero hay obras fuera de los videojuegos que tienen un impacto en esta industria. Por ejemplo los videojuegos toman muchas cosas del cine, es normal que lo hagan, porque el cine es un medio de entretenimiento muy dinámico para mostrar historias, es una manera muy entretenida de hacerlo, pero dejando eso de lado, una de las obras más influyentes es Berserk. Seguramente les suena de algo porque hace un tiempo fue tendencia en twitter, pero para aclarárselos, se trata de un manga con muchas décadas que ha tenido una influencia tremenda en otros medios de entretenimiento.
Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne y Sekiro
One of the video games that clearly takes references from the universe created by Kentaro Miura, may he rest in peace, is Demon's Souls, or should I say, From Software games in general. I don't know how many here have read anything about Berserk, but the fact is that you can clearly see the influences that From Software games take, from monsters, structures, armor and weapons, Berserk is a work that has influenced a lot and this was openly stated by the director of these games. Berserk takes a medieval concept and makes it his own by adding new things and putting a dark fantasy world, it is impressive to see this reflected in games like Demon's Souls or Dark Souls, which try to do more or less the same, and boy, did they succeed. As a curious fact, in Dark Souls 3 you can find the Dragon Slayer, the mythical weapon of Guts in Berserk.
Uno de los videojuegos que claramente toma referencias del universo que creó Kentaro Miura, que en paz descance, es Demon’s Souls, o debería de decir, los juegos de From Software en general. No sé cuántos de acá se habrán leído algo de Berserk, pero el caso es que se nota a leguas las influencias que toman los juegos de From Software, desde monstruos, estructuras, armaduras y armas, Berserk es una obra que ha influenciado mucho y esto lo declaró abiertamente el director de estos juegos. Berserk toma un concepto medieval y lo hace suyo metiendo cosas nuevas y poniéndote un mundo de fantasía oscura, es impresionante ver esto reflejado en juegos como Demon’s Souls o Dark Souls, que intentan más o menos hacer lo mismo, y vaya que sí les salió bien. Como dato curioso, en el Dark Souls 3 se encuentra la Dragon Slayer, el arma mítica de Guts en Berserk.

Another of the games most influenced by this work is Monster Hunter, just like that, and I mean the whole franchise of course. Sometimes it is difficult to realize because this type of aesthetics and armor are already installed in our minds, it is like it is already part of video games and sometimes it does not cross our minds to think about where they come from. There are monsters in this franchise that are highly inspired by many of Berserk, and let's not even talk about the weapons, which here in Monster Hunter are about twice the size of our character, but if they have a clear inspiration in what is the work of Miura. This is one that people do not usually mention when we talk about the impact that this work caused, because even I did not think of it, it was researching that I realized, which is strange, because the manga of Berserk is practically my favorite.
Otro de los juegos más influenciados por esta obra es Monster Hunter, así, a secas, y me refiero a toda la franquicia por supuesto. A veces es difícil darse cuenta porque este tipo de estética y armaduras ya las tenemos instaladas en la mente, es como que ya forma parte de los videojuegos y a veces no se nos pasa por la cabeza el pensar de donde provienen. Hay monstruos de esta franquicia que están altamente inspirados en muchos de Berserk, y ya ni hablemos de las armas, que aquí en Monster Hunter son como el doble de tamaño que nuestro personaje, pero si tienen una inspiración clara en lo que es la obra de Miura. Esta es una que la gente no suele mencionar cuando hablamos del impactó que causo esta obra, porque ni a mí mismo se me ocurrió, fue investigando que me di cuenta, cosa rara, porque el manga de Berserk es prácticamente mi favorito.

And finally, a franchise that clearly takes things from the universe that has Berserk is the Final Fantasy saga, and suddenly there are people who do not imagine it, who think it's crazy, in fact no, and it does not sound crazy, there are many weapons that are in this game that are clearly inspired, and again, hard to believe, because the theme of super big weapons these, those monsters that seem mythological and that dark universe, sometimes we forget, but it makes sense that take references from a manga like Miura if you get to compare. More precisely, the Final Fantasy that most takes reference is the seventh, one of the best of the saga, if not the best. As curious facts, Cloud's sword is clearly inspired by the one Guts has, you don't have to be very smart to realize it. And the other is the tribute that Final Fantasy XIV players did with Kentaro Miura's game, adopting a characteristic pose of Guts and making a line playing classic melodies from the Berserk anime, magnificent.
Y finalmente, una franquicia que claramente toma cosas del universo que tiene Berserk es la saga de Final Fantasy, y de repente hay gente que no se lo imagina, que piensa que es una locura, de hecho no, y no me suena descabellado, hay muchas armas que hay en este juego que se ven claramente inspiradas, y de nuevo, cuesta creerlo, porque el tema de las super armas grandes estas, esos monstruos que parecen mitológicos y ese universo oscuro, a veces se nos olvida, pero tiene mucho sentido que tomen referencias de un manga como el de Miura si te pones a comparar. Más exactamente, el Final Fantasy que más toma referencia es el séptimo, de los mejores de la saga, sino es que el mejor. Como datos muy curiosos, la espada de Cloud es claramente inspirada de la que tiene Guts, no hay que ser muy inteligente para darse cuenta. Y el otro es el homenaje que hicieron los jugadores de Final Fantasy XIV con la partida de Kentaro Miura, adoptando una pose característica de Guts y haciendo una fila tocando melodías clásicas del anime de Berserk, magnífico.

And well, that would be all, it's a pretty short post, but still interesting to bring out some games that had inspirations from such a magnificent work as Berserk is. I guess it is not the common thing to bring here in the community, but there really are many people who like this work. Suddenly there will be people who will have no idea what it is, but as a recommendation, read the manga of Berserk, with that you would be doing yourself a favor, it is a savagery, I would dare to say that it is the best I've seen in any entertainment medium, just to see the level.
Y bueno, eso sería todo, es un post bastante corto, pero igual interesante para sacar algunos juegos que tuvieron inspiraciones de una obra tan magnífica como lo es Berserk. Supongo que no es lo común de traer aquí en la comunidad, pero de verdad hay mucha gente que le gusta esta obra. De repente habrá gente que no tendrá ni idea de lo que es, pero como recomendación, léanse el manga de Berserk, con eso se estarían haciendo un favor, es una salvajada, me atrevería a decir que es de lo mejor que he visto en cualquier medio de entretenimiento, solo para que vean el nivel.
