After having played and made their respective reviews of video game classics like Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion I realized that there are several Disney games that I had not played in my life, some I knew but had never played them, others I didn't even know and I just discovered them a few days ago. The game I will talk about today is starred by what is for me, the best Disney character, far above the iconic Mickey Mouse and that character is: Donald The Duck.
The story of this game focuses on Donald's greed in wanting to be even more of a millionaire than his uncle, which as you know, his uncle is an ultra millionaire. However, Donald's greed and desire for money and power are so great that, while he was spying in his uncle's room he found a book which contained inside a treasure map, which contained the location of an ancient king's treasure. Donald's desire for fortune is so great that in order to obtain this treasure, while his uncle was sleeping he murders him so he can keep the map... I'm kidding, but while Donald discovers this map he is spied by one of the members of Pete's gang, one of the antagonists/villains of Disney, in such a situation Donald takes the map to his house and together with his nephews they embark on an adventure where the greed for treasures is more important than your own well-being, since Pete's gang is chasing them to steal the map.
On an artistic level this game is a marvel and it is satisfying to discover a game that visually is this beautiful and well detailed. You can tell quite easily that this game was made with love and dedication, at least in the graphical and artistic aspect (although the other aspects are equally competent). Last week and week (and maybe next week, who knows), will be weeks of Disney game reviews and if there's one thing the ones I've been playing have in common is that when it comes to the art and graphic level in their games, it's something outstanding. They are games that manage to capture both the aesthetics of the most emblematic characters of the animation industry, but also through small animations and expressions, they manage to capture the personality and charisma of them. Even the small details of expression that can make the character, even the simplest detail, is something that manages to convey a lot.
Being Donald the main character, it is logical that this is a very expressive character, Donald, as I mentioned earlier, for me is the best Disney character, he is the funniest and has the best charisma, that's why capturing his essence as a character in this game was something quite important, but luckily they managed to do it quite naturally. The scenarios are quite detailed and present a significant variety, which is very important in a game of this style, also presents a striking color palette and vivid colors. Donald moves quite fluently through the scenarios and has visually funny animations, but very well done. This game is simply a marvel at an artistic level.
The sound aspect of this game will not be an aspect that is going to disappoint anyone either. It maintains the quality of the games I have previously played that are from Disney. I have seen that many consider soundtracks such as Castle Of Illusion to be superior in quality to Quackshot, however, for me the soundtrack of this game is still just as spectacular, although of course, this aspect is a bit more subjective. Quackshot has a soundtrack that calls you to the adventure, fitting very well with everything that happens on screen. The moments of "action" and fun are intensified even more with this soundtrack that will accompany us throughout our adventure for Donald's greed.
Quackshot is a very conventional adventure game, but extremely fun, the hours I spent playing it were very entertaining and funny because of the expressions that can make the grumpy Donald, but in addition to the classic elements of the platform genre games, Quackshot has small elements of exploration, because along our journey through this adventure, we must find certain objects that will allow us to move to the next stage.
This is a game that remains in the line of difficulty of the previous Disney games I've talked about, that is, a gameplay not difficult at all, which has very easy to learn mechanics as they are intuitive, but despite all these "simplicity" at the level of mechanics, controls and difficulty, Quackshot is a very fun game that will give us a lot of entertainment time. Donald besides having the obvious ability to jump (that's why it is a platform game), he will also have a firearm which he will use to effectively and cruelly eliminate any enemy that gets in his way and his treasure... well, not quite, but he does have a weapon which is basically a tool to unclog the toilet, which can be improved and have different "ammunition", this tool will also have other functions that will allow us to use it as a platform.
Quackshot is another excellent Disney game, which I am very glad to have discovered. I will continue my search for old Disney games, as I was unaware of many of these and there really are many that are well worth replaying or playing for the first time.
