‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. As Gamergeek sat at his desktop with glee, he wondered what wish he might make on this eve. He thought about a brand new ps5 sitting under his tree, but wondered about something else he could get for free. One thing stuck out, among them all, a wish that would bring joy to anyone, big or small. A simple wish that would make the world better, a wish for toxicity not to endeavor.
Hey everyone! If you stuck around for that little rhyming scheme, I give you permission to slap me if you ever see me in real life. Now, since this contest was announced, I thought long and hard about what I would wish for, and it’s a simple wish. For there to be less toxicity in certain gaming communities.
I know, cue the eye rolls. That’s what I would be doing if I read a wish like this, because the first thing I would think is the person is making a “selfless” wish for brownie points. But this isn’t a selfless wish. In fact, I’d say it’s the opposite. I love playing MMO’s but the thing that sucks is that I suffer from G.A.D (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) because of this, no matter how stupid it may sound, I find it hard to actually communicate in game, and is one of the reasons why I often don’t use a mic. For someone like me, the bad experiences stick out and does a lot to dissuade us from attempting future contact.
I know this isn’t as long as some other wishes, and it may even sound stupid to some, if not all. But this is my gaming wish. So when you’re playing an online game, remember to be kind to people, and just because someone is toxic to you, it doesn’t mean you have to stoop to their level. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays! I hope all your Christmas wishes come true!
