I’m sure you guys have heard of Palword. It’s a game that took the world by storm a few months ago. Described as Pokemon but with guns it has lived up to its name despite still being in early access. I have never played this game since it launched and decided that I would hop back into it and share my adventures with you guys!
Palworld doesn’t have much of a story. We wake up on an island with only a message saying that the towers hold the key. After a short cut-scene we are left to our own devises. Unlike Minecraft, this game isn’t procedural generated, which is a bit of a bummer.

Palworld no tiene mucha historia. Nos despertamos en una isla con solo un mensaje que dice que las torres tienen la llave. Después de una breve escena, nos dejamos con nuestras propias ideas. A diferencia de Minecraft, este juego no se genera por procedimientos, lo cual es un poco fastidioso.
Not far off from the beginning area is where I decided to set up my base. This location isn’t random as it’s where I had built my last one at. The location is generally a good location next to some trees, ores, etc. I was eager to get out and start catching pals but there was something I needed to take care of first and that was actually building up my base.
In order to set your base up, you first need to set down a Palbox which outlines the parameters of your base, houses your extra pals and is used to upgrade your base. Upgrading your base really comes naturally and as you built certain things, the level of your base increases, which allows you to place more pals around your base and use them as free slave labor!
But the ironic ( or some type of similar term for it) is that in order to create a palbox you first need to create a workbench to craft the tools you need to harvest wood, stone, and paldium. So up my work bench went and once I had my tools crafted, I went out hunting!

La ubicación es generalmente una buena ubicación al lado de algunos árboles, minerales, etc. Estaba ansioso por salir y comenzar a atrapar amigos, pero había algo de lo que tenía que ocuparme primero y eso en realidad era construir mi base.
Para configurar su base, primero debe instalar un Palbox que describa los parámetros de su base, albergue a sus amigos adicionales y se use para actualizar su base. Actualizar tu base realmente es algo natural y, a medida que construyes ciertas cosas, el nivel de tu base aumenta, lo que te permite colocar más amigos alrededor de tu base y usarlos como mano de obra esclava gratuita.
Pero lo irónico (o algún tipo de término similar) es que para crear un palbox primero necesitas crear un banco de trabajo para fabricar las herramientas que necesitas para cosechar madera, piedra y paldio. Así que subí a mi banco de trabajo y una vez que tuve mis herramientas elaboradas, ¡salí a cazar!
Along the way, I also decided to catch some pals with pal spheres I picked up on my journey to where my base would be built. Unlike Pokemon, in Palworld YOU need to attack pals to capture them. Channeling my Inner Canadian, I pretended that the Pal’s were baby seals and clubbed them until they were weak enough to capture.
One of the big controversies around this game was how the Pals are almost a straight up ripoff of Pokemon, and well that is true in a lot of aspects. My first catch was a Cremis, a fluffy cat looking thing that produces wool and can toss boulders at enemies.

Una de las grandes controversias en torno a este juego fue cómo los Amigos son casi una copia directa de Pokémon, y eso es cierto en muchos aspectos. Mi primera captura fue un Cremis, un animal esponjoso con apariencia de gato que produce lana y puede arrojar piedras a los enemigos.
My next was a Foxsparks, which my nephew says is just a rip off of Evee. Is this true? Maybe? It’s been ages that I’ve played pokemon and can only remember a few! This pal looks like a fox that is on fire, hence its name.

After my two catches, I had enough materials to build a Palbox and that is exactly what I did. I also had some wood on me, so I decided that I would build a house.
I didn’t want anything fancy, just somewhere to sleep. So I started to build the floor right by a cliff. I got the floor finished and went to add a set of stairs, and that’s when I started to get annoyed. When the game first released there was an issue with the stairs where for some reason the game would want you to place them on top of structures. I was annoyed when I saw that the game was still trying to do this! But thankfully they added a “Change Building Mode” button that fixed this problem. Thankfully, I was able to place my stairs down.

After a while and a lot of slow moving as I kept getting over-encumbered, I had the inside of my house built with the exception of a roof. And this is when I learned the importance of food and warmth. My guy was freezing and hungry and just as I got my bed built, I dropped down dead.

When I got back to my base, the first thing I did was build a campfire to make sure I wouldn’t freeze to death again. And then I got back to finishing my house. I created my house with a flat roof as I do plan on adding another level to it!

For the next while, I just focused on leveling my base. This meant placing down beds for my pals, a feed box, a ranch and a few other things. Mostly some boring stuff. But once that was done, I threw on my baseball cap and went on my way to catch some more POKEMON… Sorry, I mean Pals.
My first catch was a penguin looking mofo. Thanks to a spear I crafted that I have named Mr.pokey pokey. I was able to poke a few holes into this pal until it was weak enough to capture. It wasn’t very long until I ran into a Gumross which I captured. There was also a chikipi which if you couldn’t guess is a Pal that resembles a chicken and finally a Lamball which is pretty much a lamb that is a ball. See how creative this game is with names?

Principalmente algunas cosas aburridas. Pero una vez hecho esto, me puse mi gorra de béisbol y seguí mi camino para atrapar más POKEMON... Lo siento, me refiero a Amigos.
Mi primera captura fue un pingüino que parecía mofo. Gracias a una lanza que elaboré y a la que llamé Mr.pokey pokey. Pude hacerle algunos agujeros a este amigo hasta que estuvo lo suficientemente débil como para capturarlo. No pasó mucho tiempo hasta que me encontré con un Gumross que capturé. También había un chikipi que si no podías adivinar es un Pal que se parece a un pollo y finalmente un Lamball que es más o menos un cordero que es una pelota. ¿Ves lo creativo que es este juego con nombres?
The cool thing about Pal’s is that if you have them assigned to your base, they provide resources. For example, since I have a ranch built when I assigned the Chikipi to my base, it goes to the ranch where it will lay eggs, which then can be used to feed myself and my pals.

During my adventures, I ended up leveling, which meant I could actually wear some clothes! So I headed back to my base to craft some threads! I decided at this point I would also level up my base some more. So I built a tree logging station which honestly I don’t know what the point of is. I find it takes so long to harvest wood from it and I can’t find a pal that will do it for me.
I also created a Berry Plantation, once again, for food needs. My pals will harvest the berries when they are done and place them in their food bowls.

I then created a Pal Gear station where I can craft things for my pals, such as harnesses and even guns!
After this, I decided to do some exploring. I ventured further away from the starter area following a beach and I was awarded with more Pals and paldium! A shiny Celaray caught my attention, a flying water Pal. With my Cremis by my side, I was determined to get him. I was a bit iffy because he had a friend with him but what the hell.
I focused my attacks on the shiny and when his health was low enough; I went to throw my Sphere, just as my Cremis went to deliver a final attack. Wanna know what hit first? If you guessed my sphere, you’re WRONG. My Cremis ended up killing the shiny. So I had to be content with capturing his friend.

Después de esto, decidí explorar un poco. ¡Me aventuré más lejos del área inicial siguiendo una playa y obtuve más Pals y paldium! Me llamó la atención un Celaray brillante, un Pal de agua voladora. Con mi Cremis a mi lado, estaba decidido a atraparlo. Estaba un poco dudoso porque tenía un amigo con él, pero qué diablos.
Centré mis ataques en el shiny y cuando su salud estaba lo suficientemente baja; Fui a lanzar mi Esfera, justo cuando mi Cremis iba a realizar un ataque final. ¿Quieres saber qué golpeó primero? Si adivinaste mi esfera, estás EQUIVOCADO. Mi Cremis terminó matando al shiny. Así que tuve que contentarme con capturar a su amigo.
After this I spotted some Sparkit, Pikachu, like Pals. These bastards ran as soon as they saw me. They ran through the water and I gave chase. Luckily, one of them hit a rock and was forced to turn around … right into my spear. After a few quick attacks, I threw my sphere and caught a new pal.
! [Spanish]Después de esto vi algunos Sparkit, Pikachu, como Pals. Estos bastardos corrieron tan pronto como me vieron. Corrieron por el agua y yo los perseguí. Por suerte, uno de ellos chocó contra una roca y se vio obligado a darse la vuelta... directo a mi lanza. Después de algunos ataques rápidos, lancé mi esfera y atrapé a un nuevo amigo.
Further inland I caught a teafant, an elephant looking mofo. Bringing out my old trusty club, I bashed it over the head a few times before capturing it.
! [Spanish]Más hacia el interior atrapé un teafant, un elefante con aspecto de mofo. Sacando mi viejo y confiable garrote, lo golpeé en la cabeza varias veces antes de capturarlo.
It wasn’t long until I was out of Pal Spheres and headed back to the base. And after building a few more things like a stone pit and a statue, I decided to call it a night… But I’m going to leave you on a funny note.
My nephews wanted to see Palworld, so I showed them my world. They wanted me to go explore and after a while I ran into a bandit camp in which they wanted me to attack. With a bow in hand and my Cremis I charged in. I was able to kill two of them and captured another 2 but was eventually gunned down. It took me two attempts to get my gear back.
So what did I do afterwards? Naturally, I put one of the bandits to work in my camp, renaming him to slave, and I then crafted a butcher's knife. A tool that allows you to butcher Pals… or captured thugs. To send a very clear message, I summoned Slave One’s friend to my base and butchered him in front of him…. And the same fate is going to await his friends.
! [Spanish]No pasó mucho tiempo hasta que salí de Pal Spheres y regresé a la base. Y después de construir algunas cosas más como un pozo de piedra y una estatua, decidí dar por terminada la noche... Pero los dejaré con una nota divertida.
Mis sobrinos querían ver Palworld, así que les mostré mi mundo. Querían que fuera a explorar y después de un tiempo me encontré con un campamento de bandidos al que querían que atacara. Con un arco en mano y mi Cremis, cargué. Pude matar a dos de ellos y capturar a otros 2, pero finalmente me dispararon. Me tomó dos intentos recuperar mi equipo.
Entonces, ¿qué hice después? Naturalmente, puse a uno de los bandidos a trabajar en mi campamento, le renombraba esclavo y luego fabricé un cuchillo de carnicero. Una herramienta que te permite masacrar a tus amigos... o matones capturados. Para enviar un mensaje muy claro, convoqué al amigo de Slave One a mi base y lo masacré frente a él…. Y la misma suerte les aguardará a sus amigos.
