I can't start this post without first thanking for this initiative, because I moved to important and wonderful moments of my childhood that I can't wait to share with you. And that is that video games have always been part of childhood, teenage and even of the adulthood of everyone. I mean, who did not have a console or was invited by a friend or family member to play on one? I'm sure that at some point in our lives we have coincided with them and surely we have hooked ourselves with a game in particular.
No puedo comenzar este post sin antes agradecer por esta iniciativa, pues me traslado a momentos muy importantes y maravillosos de mi infancia que no puedo esperar por compartir con todos y es que los video juegos siempre han formado parte de la infancia, adolescencia e incluso de la adultez de todos, pues ¿quién no tuvo una consola o fue invitado por algún amigo o familiar a jugar en una?, estoy seguro que en el algún momento de nuestras vidas hemos coincidido con ellos y de seguro nos hemos enganchado con un juego en particular.
My first console was Nintendo, it was around my 5 or 6 years, given by an aunt, since my cousins had a more advanced one for the time, they decided to give me that classic Nintendo that for me was the most modern and the most beautiful thing that had seen, then a remote control car or a Robot. God! I was so excited to see 2 controls that would allow me to play with my brothers, a gun that was surely for high-action games and also a cassette that said on the label that there were 9999 games in 1. Maybe they were the same 30 games repeated and spread over different levels but for me there were an infinity of options to play
Mi primera consola de nintendo, fue alrededor de mis 5 o 6 años, regalada por una tía, ya que mis primos tenían una más avanzada para la época, decidieron darme aquel nintendo clásico que para mí era lo más moderno y la cosa más hermosa que había visto, luego de un carro a control remoto o un Robot. ¡Dios! estaba tan emocionado, a ver 2 controles que me permitirían jugar con mis hermanos, una pistola que de seguro era para juegos de mucha acción y además un casete que decía en la etiqueta que en el habían 9999 juegos en 1. Tal vez eran los mismos 30 juegos repetidos y repartidos en diferentes niveles pero para mí eran una infinidad de opciones para jugar.
While many of my acquaintances advanced to more current consoles such as Nintendo 64 or PS1 and 2, I was still proud of my classic nintendo but I already had more cassettes for more fun which by the way, I always removed the case, I felt that that way it was easier for the console to read the games. Everything was going well until that gray day in which it had glitches and I couldn't stop the game because I was competing with my cousins in the unforgettable motorcycle racing game "ExciteBike", but to continue our games it was necessary to reset the console. Honestly my solution to its faults was to disconnect it for a while so that it could rest and cool down its circuits.
Mientras muchos de mis conocidos avanzaban a consolas más actuales como Nintendo 64 o PSP1 y 2, yo seguía orgulloso de mi nintendo clásico pero ya tenía más casetes para mayor diversión a los cuales por cierto, siempre les quitaba la carcasa, sentía que de esa manera era más fácil que la consola leyera los juegos. Todo iba bien hasta aquel gris día en el cual presentaba fallas y no podía detener el juego pues estaba compitiendo con mis primos en el inolvidable juego de carreras de motocicletas "ExciteBike", pero seguir nuestras partidas era necesario resetear la consola, honestamente mi solución para sus fallas era desconectarla un rato para que descansara y enfriaran sus circuitos.
I must have saw that the cable was broken and when I touched it we made contact, I think there was never a day that my Nintendo and I were so connected, as I was stuck for a few seconds receiving an electric shock, the screams of my frightened cousins and mine were heard even at my neighbors' house, it was dangerous but today I remember it quite gracefully. After that I learned to be more attentive with each electrical device.
Debí notar que el cable estaba roto y cuando lo toque, hicimos contacto, creo que no hubo nunca un día en el que mi nintendo y yo, estuviéramos tan conectados, ya que estuve unos segundos pegado recibiendo una descarga eléctrica, los gritos de mis primos asustados y los míos se oyeron hasta en casa de mis vecinos, fue peligroso pero hoy día lo recuerdo con bastante gracia. Luego de eso aprendí a ser más atento con cada aparato eléctrico.
My parents didn't have the resources to give me a PSP or buy a PC to continue playing and learning more games, but as a teenager, I went with friends from school to game stores, the popular "Arcade Games Room", some had in their PC houses with games, but I didn't want to depend on my friends' things or live inside the game stores, so I barely had any money, helping an aunt cleaning and painting her house, I managed to gather to buy a FunStantion, which is basically a classic nintendo console, maybe it wasn't a PSP, a Gameboy or a cell phone with games, but it was a console that would allow me to play again with the cassettes of that first console that broke down over time. Games were back in my life.
Tal vez mis padres no tenían los recursos para regalarme un PSP o comprar una PC para seguir jugando y conociendo más juegos, pero ya siendo un adolescente, iba con amigos del colegio a tiendas de juegos, las populares "Maquinitas", algunos tenían en sus casas PC con juegos, pero no quería depender de las cosas de mis amigos o vivir dentro de las tiendas de juegos, así que apenas tuve dinero, ayudando a una tía limpiando y pintando su casa, logré reunir para comprar un FunStantion, que es básicamente una consola clásica de nintendo, tal vez no era un PSP, un Gameboy o un celular con juegos pero era una consola que me permitiría jugar de nuevo con los casetes de aquella primera consola que se fue averiando con el tiempo. Los juegos estaban de vuelta en mi vida.
Super Mario Bros, Galaxia, Ice Climber, Duck Hunt, Battle City, Contra, Tetris, Pacman, Bomberman, Donkey Kong, ExciteBike are just some of the many games that captivated me and that surely you must know. Meeting friends who couldn't believe I had that type of Nintendo was funny because they made comparisons of the graphics and the interface of their modern consoles and there is a lot of difference but the training is the same or even better, because it is like taking a trip in time and remember moments, or like when you go to a party and they play a retro song but you still like to dance. It's exactly the same feeling, after doing my chores, if I didn't go out to play other games like soccer on the field, I would stay at home and immediately sit down to play and I don't regret any day that I dedicate time to it, I lived a full and happy childhood.
Super Mario Bross, Galaxia, Ice Climber, Duck hunt, Battle City, Contra, Tetris, Pacman, Bomberman, Donkey Kong, Excite Bike, son tan sólo algunos de tantos juegos que me cautivaron y que de seguro deben conocer. Reunirme con amigos que no podían creer que tuviera ese tipo de nintendo era gracioso pues hacían comparaciones de las gráficas y la interfaz de sus consolas modernas y es mucha la diferencia pero el entrenamiento es el mismo o incluso mejor, porque es como hacer un viaje en tiempo y recordar momentos, o como cuando vas a una fiesta y tocan una canción retro pero que aún te gusta bailar. Es exactamente la misma sensación, luego de hacer mis quehaceres, si no salía a jugar otros juegos como el fútbol en la cancha, me quedaba en casa e inmediatamente me sentaba a jugar y no me arrepiento de ningún día que le dedique tiempo, viví una infancia plena y feliz.
Ice Climber
One of my favorites among so many games was Ice Climber, I remember the amount of hours I spent sitting trying to climb to the top and always the character fell or I ran out of time to reach the pterodactide at the top. So I was learning the tricks and thus surpassing levels. I must say that despite its simple interface, it is quite entertaining and whoever starts it is hooked on the game.
Unos de mis favoritos entre tantos juegos era Ice Climber, recuerdo la cantidad de horas que pasaba sentado tratando de escalar hasta la cima y siempre el personaje se me caía o terminaba el tiempo para poder llegar hasta el pterodactido en la cima. Poco a poco fui aprendiendo los trucos y asi superando niveles. Debo decir que pese a su interfaz simple, ea bastante entretenido y quien lo comienza queda enganchado con el juego.
ExciteBike
Without a doubt, this was my favorite among sports-themed games, honestly I always ended up falling into each obstacle but I Was understood what the trick was to be able to arrive first. In addition to racing, I could recreate my own tracks to practice. And yes, even there I fell many times but I didn't give up and I think that both this and other games leave us a lesson and it is something that we must always emphasize, it was not only playing, it was also the lesson that each game left you.
Sin duda entre los juegos de temática deportiva este era mi favorito, honestamente siempre terminaba cayendo en cada obstáculo pero poco a poco fui entendiendo como era el truco para poder llegar de primero. Además de competir, podía recrear mis propias pistas para practicar. Y si, incluso ahí me caí muchas veces pero no me rendí y pienso que tanto este como otros juegos, nos dejan una enseñanza y es algo que debemos recalcar siempre, no solo era jugar también era la lección que te dejaba cada juego.
Today, I keep my console, although I hardly use it, today I decided to connect it because this post made the child that is still in me come to the fore and I could not miss the opportunity to resume and now that I have younger cousins it is a I am glad to be able to teach them to play and that despite the situation in the world, they have the same opportunity that I had to learn about video games, the positive of doing homework and obtaining permission to play and the responsibility that playing implies, have a console and be able to take care of it.
Hoy día, conservo mi consola, aunque casi no la uso, hoy decidí conectarla porque este post hizo que el niño que aún está en mí, saliera a flote y no podía dejar pasar la oportunidad de retomar y ahora que tengo primos más pequeños es un gusto poder enseñarles a jugar y que a pesar de la situación que vive el mundo, ellos tengan la misma oportunidad que tuve yo de conocer los vídeos juegos, lo positivo de hacer las tareas y obtener el permiso para jugar y la responsabilidad que implica jugar, tener una consola y poder cuidarla.
I hope that many feel identified and if they have a console, it does not matter which one, dust it off and connect it! There are currently many applications with simulators of the classics or increasingly incredible games but now that we must be at home for our good, take a little trip to the past and enjoy again those games that made us happy
Espero que al igual que yo, muchos se sientan identificados y si tienen una consola, no importa cual, ¡desempólvala y conéctala!, actualmente hay muchas aplicaciones con simuladores de los clásicos o juegos cada vez más increíbles pero ahora que debemos estar en casa por nuestro bien, date un viaje al pasado y disfruta nuevamente de aquellos juegos que nos hicieron feliz.
