Recently this image has been making the rounds in online circles, where a user reported that after a while of not using their Ubisoft account, they were sent an email stating that if they wished to not see the account deleted they'd have to click on a link to cancel the procedure.
This is... Bad.
Imagine you spend hundreds of dollars on games or DLCs (even through Steam, because Steam links to Ubisoft Connect when buying Ubisoft titles) and then you are sent out on a long deployment by your army, or you decide to take a break from gaming, or you fall into a coma, or anything else that may warrant someone to stay out of gaming for a while - only to then come back and find that your Assassin's Creeds, Farcrys, and the like are all gone.
This is incredibly anti-consumer, and despite some people suggesting it might be due to GDPR compliance and how companies aren't supposed to hold over your data, I still think this is a conscious decision on the part of Ubisoft, seeing as you know... We haven't seen reports of any other gaming company doing this.
And if you're wondering if this is a well fabricated fake, take a look at this.
"We don't want you to lose access"
This feels like a joke. An absolute insult to paying customers.
But what did we expect? It's Ubisoft doing Ubisoft things, nothing new here.
So yeah, you guys watch out if you have anything purchased from Ubisoft, because you might just lose access to it.
Have a good one.
