Yeah, it's a filler event. Nothing really interesting to see this time but the scenarios were fun. Itto and Kirara are always welcome sights. Having a five man team of the Little Witches was interesting enough.
The only thing that's disappointing is that Itto used to have this very important character arc that related to Japanese society and I was looking forward to see that develop and eventually conclude. Basically Japan has this very crucial issue of extreme conformity. It's smothering for them and it's been a problem that's discussed often. More recently, the previously ostracized "delinquents" have gotten better portrayals in anime. In the past they were just dregs of society, useless and dismissed by everybody. Now, there's been a better attempt at understanding that not all of them are misbehaving so much as just trying to have their own identity rather than following the crowd. Itto was this for Genshin. The original story for him was someone who kept getting into trouble in Inazuma's closed off and traditional society. However looking closer at him you realize he can get things done and he actually has a role in moving Inazuma forward as it opened back up to the rest of the world. If you give him a direction and guide his hand, he can achieve some great feats. A few years ago when he saw some young youkai feeling ostracized by humans, he single-handedly constructed a makeshift version of an old era holiday that allowed youkai and humans to intermingle. It wasn't anything fancy but it was still an incredible undertaking by a single oni like him. And to reward this effort, Yae Miko who essentially runs the nation brought in more visitors and made it flashier than Itto could himself. And as it would happen, it was actually all her plan anyway because she'd already noticed Itto's potential for bringing change.
Oops, went off on a rant there. Yeah I'm a big fan of that character arc. Anyway the rest of this event should just be about introducing Homura and reuniting her with Popcorn. I'm still hoping that Prune's story will be explained but who knows what these guys will actually produce. See you Tuesday for the conclusion!
