Between robots and mech suits in western fiction and those of the massive genre called mecha anime, the victory goes to anime hands down. And in the modern day if you want 3D anime, there's almost nowhere else to turn to than Mihoyo which has now carried on the proud tradition of mecha marvelously.
Seed is just a beast. She starts a fight just cruising around on her segway but her attacks summon her surrogate father Seed, Sr. to blast away like nobody's business! The skill is just a barrage of missiles. All you end up seeing on the enemy is a bunch of blue numbers obscuring it from view. Then you get that superhero punch thing where Seed, Sr. zips in for a Heavy Attack that knocks the enemy into next week! Finally you have her Ultimate which is fun. There have been several games that have done this. You are sitting in the cockpit with Seed. She's targeting down her enemies. Once she has target lock she unleashes all hell on them and if they weren't strawberry jam yet, they are now.
The banner this time is even great because if you weren't interested in her, there's always Trigger who is one of the best supporting stunning partners as you can get. She just starts with a "Heavy Attack" of you just holding down the attack button as she continuously snipes the enemies to build up her Aftershock gauge. After that you can hit the enemy with her skill and both trigger the ability to switch to your previous character. Now if that previous character is Yixuan like she would be on my current team, you have a free hit with her massive power on top of Trigger just lying in wait for Yixuan to use her many different kinds of "skill" attacks in order to blast enemies with giant electric beams. Getting hit with these beams reduces resistance so Yixuan does even more damage!
And finally, who can forget Seed's story? The poor girl! Honestly I felt hurt too because Seed, Sr. talks in-game. I totally thought there'd be something there and they just hit you with a truck. Not cool miHoYo! But totally on brand for these guys. And yet.... still heartwarming.... Not sure how they do that. Now of course it isn't anything thrilling like the Hugo story but it's been keeping up with the mood of these Season 2 stories. You had the tragedy related to the Fall of the Old Capital for Yixuan. Then it's human experimentation with Yuzuha and the tragedy related to that for Alice. Now it's Seed's turn. We're going back to Spook Shack though for v2.3 but the D&D high elf girl that'll be releasing seems to have another type of tragic backstory for us to cry about. I'm really hoping for my Fu Hua theory to come true because we'll need that closure. We're not Honkai Impact players miHoYo! Be gentle!
