From the cop show on Zenless to now going down into the underworld with spies like Yelan and informants like Emilie. And of course their legal counsel Yanfei. How does Razor fit into this group? I have no idea. But lets just focus on the police business.
Emilie is the new character and her story is that she has a perfume store front that she uses to gain intel on crime in Fontaine which she then passes along to Chevreuse and anybody else in Fontaine's law enforcement. She can also use her talents making perfumes to aid in investigations. In battle she also works well with Chevreuse as she requires characters to apply Pyro to enemies so that she can use her skill which triggers Burning and the Burning then raises the level of her skill which then leads to massive damage raining down from the sky.
Yelan is an old character and her story was that she did the things her government can't do publicly. In her debut she even subtly threatened to murder all of us should any of the secrets she keeps be revealed. In gameplay Yelan is a beast. You can pair her with practically any team because her passive Hydro skill hits enemies and applies Hydro each time you use a normal attack.
So then we come to Yanfei who is a lawyer and you might imagine a police informant and a government spy might make use of a relationship with said lawyer. In gameplay she can also apply the Pyro that Emilie needs, in fact she's really good at that and can do tons of personal damage as well. And when it comes to using normal attacks to trigger Yelan's skill well Yanfei happens to focus on her normal attacks to do most of her damage. Nice and complementary.
And that's where we come to Razor.... He's an Electro character and a Physical damage dealer so he's totally the odd one out in gameplay. Emilie needs Pyro characters not Electro and while Yelan would help trigger Electro-Charged with Razor, that's not exactly a good reaction if you can help it. You'd actually want Hyperbloom but that requires a non-Emilie Dendro character and even then Razor's best application of Electro only happens when he can use his Burst which isn't consistent enough. You could pair him with Yanfei and then add in Chevreuse because that'll be an Overload team and Chevreuse works off of that but then you have plenty of better options than Razor who also has to stay on field to apply that Electro component. Fischl, Yae Miko and Kuki Shinobu are all better at doing that. In terms of story then well Razor's not exactly good at subtle. He's also very naive and straightforward. Overall I have no idea why miHoYo put him out of all the other characters onto this banner.
Anyway are you going for Emilie? Did you need Yelan? Or are you giving this banner a pass because Mualani and Natlan will be here in a few short weeks?
