How to get started in Mining Sim
After my last post explaining what Mining Sim actually is, I thought it would be better to also show how to get started in the current demo.
The UI you see now is still a testing/demo shell and not what the final game UI is supposed to look like. The core loop shown here is the one being tested now. I use dark mode, so it may look a bit different for you in light mode.
Also just to be clear, this test is free to try. There are no real tokens or NFTs in it yet, and there is nothing to earn from testing right now. This stage is just about testing the game loop and seeing what works and what doesn't.
The basic idea is simple:
- buy miners
- keep them powered
- mine for rewards
- reinvest those rewards to keep growing

The Start Here card should guide you through the first steps and take you to where you need to be for each one.
1. Log in with Keychain
The first thing to do is log in with your Hive account through Keychain.
The page uses that to know which account is playing and to sign the actions you make.
2. Set inviter if you have one
This part is optional.
If u only have 1 account, I would just skip this.
If you have more and want to see how it works, then leave it blank for the first account, but fill it in on the others and use the first account as inviter.
3. Get starter balance
Before buying your first miner, grab the one-time demo starter balance.
That gives you the test balance used for your first purchase.
4. Buy your first miners
After that you can buy your first Gen1 miners. With the starter balance, you can get 5.
Starter miners come with prepaid energy, so you do not need to worry about buying energy right away.
5. Start mining
Once you own miners, you can stake them from the miner table and start mining.
That is when the actual loop begins.
6. Watch your state
Once your miners are running, you can see the important things on the player page:
- your CREDIT
- your active TH
- your energy runtime
- your MINE
That gives you a quick view of how your farm is doing.
7. Reinvest your rewards
When you have MINE, you can convert it into CREDIT.
That is how you keep growing without adding new outside value all the time.
You use CREDIT for things like:
- energy
- more miners
- research
- repairs
8. Keep your miners powered
When the starter energy runs out, you need to buy more energy using CREDIT.
That is one of the main ongoing costs in the game.
9. Repairs are now part of the loop too
Miners now wear down over time from being used.
That means they are not just something you buy once and forget forever. Once a miner drops low enough in condition, repairs become available.
So over time the loop is not just buying energy and miners, but also deciding when it is still worth repairing older hardware and when newer hardware starts making more sense.
What the current loop is
So in simple words, the current loop is:
- get your first miners
- start mining
- use MINE to get CREDIT
- spend CREDIT on energy, more miners, research, and repairs
- keep growing and decide how long older miners are still worth keeping around
There are also things like anomalies and hash races, but the steps above are the main way to get started.
If you do try it, what helps me most is honest feedback from fresh eyes.
If something is unclear, if you don't know what to click next, if wording is confusing, or if the loop just doesn't feel good yet, that is exactly the kind of feedback I need right now.
