This is not a post about the Butcher feature being broken. It works but it is currently partly defunded. More on that later.
It is not about all the basketball players that believe a Piggericks game can be won by running down the clock. Short message for anyone complaining about being destroyed by accounts that miss their turns - they do not win because they found the magic negative-clock area to click the toss button. They just do what I have been doing for weeks. Scratch your right ear with your left middlefinger, throw a drop of red wine towards the wall, scream "Razorback" out loud, stand up, sit down, push the toss button. Seems too hard for every roll? Well, that is why they run out of the timer at times. Or maybe forget the hard way and just learn When to Toss and Bank.
I would rather start with myself. I am getting into fights recently. That is wrong. I know it. I prefer to stop that.
A few days ago, I downvoted a Hive post. As far as my German goes, it was rather decent. It did not pay out much. It even mentioned Hive games that I like and want to see grow. I downvoted it on the basis of its author giving me another round of s*ittalk on Piggericks Discord server. Rounds are infrequent but permanent and I am not letting it slide. Not from anyone who averages two games a day recently.
I know the person is not dumb. I mean I have seen a few dumb words typed but I have also seen them deleted fast (the latter should prove my point). I know streamers earn by talking and not by winning games. It is not a world I am living in (fortunately) but I guess you have to know to pick the right targets in both worlds to survive.
When Butcher started to pay out Hive/HBD, I had been voicing my concerns already. I dislike that change. Just a week ago, many people super-excited about the Grunts withdrawal feature hit the wall. (Grunts are the Piggericks tribe token usable within the game. Unfortunately, it is not Hive-based, it lives on ETH) I actually wanted to downvote a different post that was about buying computer equipment with the money coming from those Grunts. (Unfortunately, I missed payout time on that post by hours.) Guess what happens when a dozen people tries to sell a token noone else has heard of? Yes, the price has went down about tenfold. I should say I am sorry but I am not. I hope the person actually has the necessary money elsewhere, but I am clearly not sorry, sorry.
You can either buy the Piggericks gaming stuff to have fun with it, or to longterm invest in high risk environment. If anyone bought a pig with the money they need to keep your computer alive, it was a huge mistake.
Back to Butcher, I do not think anyone is entitled a guaranteed payback on their pigs at this time. You want to butcher a pig for Grunts to buy a bunch on a lower level? That is the way to go, the pigs are volatile in their experience/price and winning a few games means the pig can go out of your comfort zone. I wish you could break such a pig back in smaller pigs without the paywall because the losing streak will come one day for everyone (barring the happy hippies in the two-games-a-day subculture).
Do you want to sell your pig for real money? You better go out and find your buyer. Someone that is going to enjoy the game they have not heard about yet. Maybe that could be worth doing even if you are in no hurry to sell right now.
Piggericks is not a finished product yet. We are in Beta testing. I am saying "we" but I am not really part of the team. I bought the most pigs in the presale (I guess). I played the most games (the leaderboard says I have won more than anyone else). That is it. When I disagree with on Butcher, you know where it ends. He did what he wanted and that is fine. He is the founder and still holds most Grunts. Then I put my money where my mouth was and made a run on the Butcher. Actually, the money went the other way but you get my point, right? I butchered a couple of pigs that I would butcher for Grunts anyway. Then I butchered some that could be ready soon. Then I butchered some more. The initial funds for Butcher were gone in a day, the first reload lasted hours and it seems the new startegy is to reload small (fine, game on). OK, this time I am sorry. The pigs could have been worth more in the future but I do not mind being the pizza guy here. I still have time to rebuild the stock for the mooning. I am sorry that I need to take a stand to be heard. And I am really sorry i it is seen as a personal issue, which is not. While I am sorry, I am not changing my position.
Scrolling back, Piggericks is not a finished product yet. I am looking forward to times where we put our pigs at the market (not the stupid ETH-based Opensea with double-digit gas prices). It is not going to happen within days. If you want have some fun tossing the pigs, come visit us now. If you need to gamble your Hive balance so that you can buy your lunch if you can double up, I have heard there are proper casinos out there.
I am not done putting my pigs where my mouth is. I no longer get to play the low levels so I decided I can let some lvl1-2s go. I will release a separate post from that should serve as a manual temporary marketplace. Pigs come and go in this game so whenever you need a refill check it out. I am going to sell at sizeable discount compared to shop prices so I reserve the right not to sell to accounts that might be speculating (I do this to see more people actually playing).
Question for all those playing the game already - Would you prefer devs to be working on a reasonable pig-trading market or adding tournaments?
