Who doesn't love this gem? Do you remember how to get 30 lives? (☝️☝️👇👇👈👉👈👉🅱️🅰️ start) I wonder how many kids joined the army because of this game. It was probably just a good recruitment tool for the army as Top Gun was for the navy. Well, maybe not that good.
I remember when I was teaching adults business English in Bangkok someone bought a Chinese bootleg NES with every game ever made on it.
As you can see from this screenshot of NES ROMS from the Pirate Bay, every game ever made uses up less space than a movie.
With so many games to choose from, they seemed to like Contra the best. I was quite surprised that people in 2017 still loved this game, but after playing through it again today, I can see why. If I wasn't busy, they'd always ask me to do the 30 lives cheat for them or to try and help them clear the game, but they figured out they could steal my lives by pushing start and would use them all up by falling down pits or getting shot. I don't think my students ever did clear the game. I never did back in the 80s or 90s either.
After getting sick and tired of mobile games that only work while online that shove annoying ads in your face all the time, I decided to download some Nintendo emulators for my phone. I already had saved all my favorite ROMS for NES, SNES, and N64 to my Google Drive so I just added those to my internal memory too. For the NES emulator, I like using Nostalgia.NES Lite. They don't have ads and they have the super awesome rewind time option. I doubt the devils at Apple will let you download any emulators, but if they do, please share in the comments.
Even with the rewind time option, I don't know how to beat this without losing a few lives. Contra is just not as fun when playing alone.

This is the first time I've ever cleared the game. I showed my girlfriend, but she was completely unimpressed.
Come on! Doesn't this feel like a ripoff of the Predator ending?
