It's been a while since the last update on my main account for Old School Runescape. Since my last update, I did get a little bit burnt out on Old School Runescape, and I didn't play that much after doing some bosses. I got sick, and I just didn't feel like doing too much. Once I got better and started getting back into the game, I decided to mix in some other skilling goals along with Slayer. I did some Forester's Campfires for firemaking as part of my AFK activities while I was busy. I also got 99 range so that is another stat that is finally maxed out.
Slayer and Bossing
I am still doing some Slayer, but I have started mixing things up, and am not focusing all my spare time here. It's a slow skill to level up, but it will level up my combat stats. In fact, I was able to get 99 ranged, but Runelite didn't make a screenshot for it, so I am sad that I don't have a picture of it.
Shellbane Gryphon
The first boss I fought was the Shellbane Gryphon. This is one of the newest bosses added to Runescape with the addition of the Sailing skill. Unfortunately, this boss is a task only, and it requires you to be on a Slayer task. I got two tasks and added over 300 kills to my record, but I am still missing some of the rarer drops. It's a fairly easy boss, and I also took the time to finish all the combat achievements while I was at it.
Giant Mole
The next boss is Giant Mole. This is one of the older bosses, and it's one of the bosses that can be assigned with the Like a Boss Slayer addition. This is a fairly easy boss as protecting from melee removes all damage. I decided to use Dharok at 1 HP and see those powerful but slow hits on the boss. At the same time, I grabbed all of the combat achievements, and I already had the Falador Hard Dairy for when it digs.
Thermonuclear smoke devil
I got Thermonuclear smoke devil again as a task, but this time I made sure to put my fang on stab. I didn't realize that the double-accuracy rolls did not work when it was set on slash. With this, I killed the boss faster, and I was also in less danger. I didn't make the same mistake and die from letting my health get too low.
Skilling
As I said earlier, I did a lot of training on my non-melee stats to get them higher. As I want to max out all of these skills eventually, I decided to work on my lowest level skills: Firemaking and Runecraft. Firemaking is quite easy with bonfires, as all I need to do is toss logs onto a burning fire, even if it is a slow experience. Runecraft wasn't as easy as I had to be quite active. I could craft bloods for less effort, but without the skilling outfit, I didn't feel it was worth it.
Guardians of the Rift
I focused on the Guardians of the Rift mini-game for my Runecraft experience. I find that the experience rates here weren't as bad, but getting my lowest skill Runecraft to level 80 took around 7-8 hours of playing the mini-game. Unfortunately, that outfit is still quite far away, as I am still only at 1 piece, and my luck with pearls is horrible. At least I got the abyssal needle this time around, so my runecraft journey will be easier with that colossal pouch. I am not looking forward to doing more Guardians of the Rift just to get that outfit because that outfit increases the runes you get when crafting essence. Doing normal runecrafting without that just seems like trolling.
Conclusion and my plans
It's been over a week since my last Old School Runescape update, and with me getting 99 range, I just felt like putting this out there. Also, leagues might be starting soon, and I think I'll be playing that, so I felt like putting something out there as an update made sense. I think mixing things up was the right choice so I don't get burnt out trying to max out those stats. However, I do think that I need to chip away at that Runecraft and Agility grinds eventually because I see them as the two worst skills to take care of.
Do you play Old School Runescape? What did you like most about it, and did you have any goals?
