Few years ago before the pandemic hit, I was lucky to attend an Anime Expo because the ticket sold at breakneck speed. My friend and I were so thrilled to snatch a ticket, whew.
The expo was held in SM Megamall in the Philippines. We went early so that we can look around as much as we can. There was a lot to see and to scrutinize, not only anime-related but also gaming. What struck me the most is this shop of nostalgic consoles and games. It brought back my childhood memory just seeing these old gems. Also, is it weird to like remember a certain smell when looking at these? Hahah.
Before the internet craze and online games, we had this at home to cure our boredom. My childhood was generally about playing video games, watching Disney movies and anime, and doodling in random papers. Since I was a kid, I have a big love for collecting gaming console already. Perhaps this lead to my blurry vision, lol. So, kids, limit your screen time!
I believe I was not yet born when this gaming console came out. What I remembered was my cousins and I were fighting over our turn playing. We played in the afternoon until dinner time. I remember dreaming about out fights because of playing all day. The production of Super Famicom was discontinued in year 2005. Sadt.
The seller was kind enough to let the buyers experience playing some games. I was hesistant to press the buttons because I was scared to break it, HAHA! That mini television made it more nostalgic, so cute!
My eyes shifted to an acrylic box of old games. These are games for Nintendo Gameboy. We had the black and white version that needed four batteries to make it run. Now you can just charge them, and not bother to go to the hardware store to buy some batteries. What I do before is to expose them to the sun. I do not know if it really charges in that way whaha. My little hands were so tired holding the chunky Gameboy back then. (It is just funny how all those memories flashed in my mind)
This is cool to know they have a Gameboy Harvest Moon. Do you agree this is the best nostalgia game ever? Hehe. I tried playing this game in a Nintendo Gameboy SP. I played the both version - Harvest Moon of Mineral Town and Harvest Moon More friends of Mineral Town. What was memorable for me is the cooking contest! I had to gather all the high quality ingredients to win Gourmet's heart. I still have my Gameboy SP but not using it anymore because I think it really consumes a lot of power.
These are second hand games for sale for Nintendo DS. The seller can check the game for you if it is running smooth. These are for sale for about half of the original price, but still depends on how mint the game is. I did not play a lot of Nintendo DS game. I just played Rune Factory for this console. I really like the farming gaming, haha! Did you notice? More games were for sale such as Zelda, Yokai Watch, Final Fantasy, etc.
As a gamer (semi), I cannot leave this shop without me taking somethhing. The hype before was the game Last Of Us. I read and heard of a lot of good reviews of this game. In fact, it is one of the highly rated game of all time! I am so fortunate to see this game in an anime expo, so I grabbed the opportunity to buy this! I payed around PHP 700 or USD 12 (assuming USD 1 = PHP 57). I was so thrilled to head back home and play this gem.
Conclusion
I was so delighted whenever I attend an anime expo. These are the events that I can related to because these are my childhood memories and of course, one that sparks my interests.
I got home and opened my PS3 right away, and played Last Of Us. I got hooked on Joel and Eliie's story right away. If I were to rate this game, it would be 9.8/10.
I am yet to play Last Of Us 2! Soon!
That is it for this gaming blog. I will see you at the next one!
