Are you one of those poor slobs dealing with constant stuttering and frame-freezes despite your very suitable hardware as you traverse the Lands Between?
I feel you. I'm a poor slob, too.
While many people are enjoying a flawless experience of Elden Ring on PC, many others are not; and no, it's not because we're trying to run the game on a "lolol toaster."
Unfortunately, there's not much on the user's side that can be done to actually fix this issue; however, there are ways of alleviating it and making it somewhat manageable.
So, while waiting for the developers to push out a patch for this.......
"Hurr durr. Have you tried updating your drivers?"
Like most normal gamers, why yes, yes I have. Thanks.

.......I decided to try my hand at lessening the issue as best I could.

After reading many, many Reddit threads, Steam discussions, and various websites regurgitating the same "fixes," I tried pretty much all of them.
What's recommended?
- disabling Depth of Field and Motion Blur.
- forcing Windows to run the program as High Priority
- disabling "Device Association Root Enumerator" in the Device Manager
- setting your Shader Cache to 'unlimited'
- capping your fps to 58
- turning off online gameplay
After following these recommendations, I found that the most effective "fix" was to turn the game offline. That minimised quite a few of my issues but I was still getting constant frame-freezes, and in the midst of combat of all annoying times.
Finally, my partner and I dived through each and every setting in the nvidia control panel and tried various things that weren't mentioned elsewhere.
One of those things was forcing triple-buffering.
As soon as I turned that on in the nvidia settings dedicated to this game, most of my performance issues were solved. I now only get frame-freezes when the game is loading a new area, rather than it constantly glitching out in the midst of battle (and when exploring, or, well, doing anything).
If you're one of the thousands of people experiencing a constant stream of frame-freezes like I was, may forcing triple-buffering work for you. It will not eliminate the problem entirely, but it does settle it down a bit.
Until next time! πβοΈ
