Do you remember when I played through the entire Dragon Age series and posted my adventure on a daily basis? Do you miss my lengthy 2000-word posts? Fear not, for Baldur's Gate 3 has officially launched out of early access and I'm ready to no-life my life away in this new game and share it with all of yooouuu!!
Needless to say but I'm going to say it anyway: 🔴SPOILER ALERT.🔴
I never dabbled in the early access of this. I was waiting very impatiently for the full release. I'm going in blind. 😱
Let's get to it!
Introducing Ellu'kha Kael, the beautiful, stereotypical wood elf ranger who took an hour to make in the character creator.
The character creator doesn't allow you to adjust the facial aspects like jaw size, lip style, nose style, whatever, but the options it does allow you to tweak are many and I spent a good 20 minutes just trying to settle on a hairstyle and colour. 😅
...and this is her 'Guardian.' I'm not quite sure what the Guardian's purpose is, but I thought a demonic looking Guardian would be cool.
Ellu'kha Kael had been captured by a Mindflayer, an evil, twisted creature reminiscent of a humanoid Cthulhu. Trapped within a fleshy prison, Ellu'kha watched, helpless, as the creature inserted a parasite into her eye.
Suddenly, the world shook. Beasts outside roared. Fire and flames sprung into life as the transport she stood within crashed and burned, under attack by unknown forces outside. The Mindflayer fell to the floor and Ellu'kha was freed from her prison.
Unsettled by the knowledge some strange parasite was inside of her eye, she crept over to the Mindflayer. It was dead. Good.
She needed to find her way out of here.
As she crept through the chambers, trying to find a way out of this fleshy monstrosity, a tiny voice whispered to her, tried to coax her over. Unable to help herself, she found her way towards the voice... and came across a man's corpse. It was his brain. His brain was talking to her.
Upon closer inspection she realised it wasn't actually the man's brain talking to her, but an intellect devourer, a minion of the Mindflayers that had taken residence within. Narrowing her eyes, Ellu'kha stretched her hand into a claw and grabbed the brain, crushing it to a goopy pulp.
She would help no minion of this evil.
As she continued her trek through the burning structure, a gith lady jumped out from nowhere and brandished her blade. As they looked each other in the eye, suddenly a pain swept through Ellu'kha and it was obvious the same pain swept through the gith.
They saw each other through each other's eyes and the gith lowered her sword. Her name was Lae'zel and together maybe — just maybe — they could escape this burning wreckage.
Together they looked for a way to escape, looting corpses as they went along, and soon found a woman banging on the locked enclosure of a similar prison to that which Ellu'kha had broken free from.
Lae'zel didn't want to waste time trying to free the woman while the ship was crashing and burning, but Ellu'kha begged to differ. She looked for a way to free the woman and soon found the appropriate controls on a nearby console.
The woman's name was Shadowheart and she seemed secretive. Ellu'kha wasn't sure she would be able to trust her. But that didn't really matter at this moment — they needed to get out of here.
The three women approached the helm to find imps and demon creatures fighting with another Mindflayer. The Mindflayer didn't seem to realise that they weren't being controlled by the hive mind and demanded them to fix the Transponder while he dealt with the creatures.
That suited the women just fine. They could teleport elsewhere, away from the beasts attacking the ship, and get to safety.
While the Mindflayer dealt with the attackers, Ellu'kha and her companions slowly made their way towards the Transponder and activated it... just as a dragon barged its way towards the helm and lit the transponder aflame.
Though it was ruined, it had enough juice in it to activate one last time, and the ship teleported to another region... crashing and burning along the way.
Ellu'kha awoke on a rocky beach, stunned to see daylight and sunshine after the murky darkness of the Mindflayer ship.
She quickly checked herself for injuries... and found herself whole. Except for the parasite that wiggled amongst her brain. She needed to find a cure, a way to remove this thing, before it was too late.
First, though, where was she?
Until next time! 😊
